Winter of Yeonnam
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Winter of Yeonnam, you immediately get the sense that this three-star boutique spot gets what travelers actually want. It’s tucked away on a quiet side street in Mapo-Gu, but honestly, that’s part of its charm — you’re close enough to everything without dealing with the chaos of Seoul’s busier districts. The lobby has this cozy, almost residential feel that makes you forget you’re staying at a hotel.
The Yeonnam-dong Experience
Here’s what I love about this location — you’re right in the heart of Yeonnam-dong, which has become one of Seoul‘s most interesting neighborhoods over the past few years. The area used to be pretty quiet, but now it’s filled with these amazing little cafes, vintage shops, and hole-in-the-wall eateries that locals actually frequent. You can walk to Hongik University in about ten minutes, and the whole Hongdae nightlife scene is basically on your doorstep. Plus, there’s free private parking on site, which — trust me — is a huge deal in this part of the city.
Your Room
The room itself feels more like staying in a friend’s well-designed apartment than a typical hotel. Each one has a compact but fully functional kitchenette, which comes in handy when you want to grab ingredients from the local market and cook something simple. The design is clean and modern without being sterile — think warm wood accents and plenty of natural light. I mean, it’s not fancy by any stretch, but everything works perfectly and the beds are surprisingly comfortable.
Evening Entertainment
What really sets this place apart are the evening activities they organize. The movie nights happen in their common area, and they actually pick decent films — not just tourist-friendly stuff. The live music performances feature local artists, which gives you a genuine taste of Seoul’s indie scene. They also arrange bike tours around the neighborhood, and honestly, cycling through Yeonnam-dong’s tree-lined streets is one of the best ways to explore the area. The restaurant downstairs serves solid Korean comfort food, though you’ll probably want to venture out and try the incredible street food nearby.
Why Guests Love It
That 9.3 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed here — it’s the kind of place that exceeds expectations without trying too hard. Couples particularly seem to appreciate the intimate atmosphere and the fact that you can easily slip away from the tourist crowds when you want some quiet time together. The staff genuinely cares about making your stay memorable, and they’re full of recommendations for places that aren’t in every guidebook. You know what really impressed me? They remember your preferences after just a day or two, which creates this lovely sense of familiarity in a city that can feel overwhelming.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Seoul at least two months ahead for major events like K-pop concerts and cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular attractions.
