Mayfield Hotel Seoul
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the Mayfield Hotel Seoul, I wasn’t expecting much. The entrance is sort of understated compared to some of the flashier five-star places around the city, but that actually turned out to be part of its charm. You know what struck me immediately? The lobby has this old-world elegance that feels genuinely Korean rather than trying to be some generic international luxury hotel. The marble floors are polished to perfection, and there’s this subtle incense scent that’s not overpowering – it just makes the whole place feel calm and sophisticated.
What really sets this place apart, though, is how they’ve managed to blend traditional Korean aesthetics with modern comfort. I mean, you’ll find beautiful hanji paper screens alongside contemporary furniture that actually looks like someone thought about design rather than just buying everything from the same catalog. The rooms are spacious by Seoul standards – and trust me, that matters a lot in this city where space is premium. I stayed on the eighth floor and barely heard any street noise, which is honestly impressive given how bustling the area gets during rush hour. The bathrooms are where they really show off – deep soaking tubs and those rainfall showerheads that actually have decent water pressure (you’d be surprised how often that’s not the case).
The staff here genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which isn’t always a given at five-star properties. Check-in was smooth, and when I mentioned I was having trouble with my phone’s international plan, the concierge didn’t just point me toward the business center – he actually helped me sort it out right there at the desk. Little things like that make a difference when you’re dealing with travel stress. The restaurant situation is solid too – their Korean breakfast spread includes some really authentic dishes alongside the usual international options, and the evening bar has this cozy atmosphere where you can actually have a conversation without shouting. Parking can be a bit tight if you’re driving, but honestly, you’re better off using the subway anyway since the area is well-connected to most places you’d want to visit. With an 8.2 rating, it’s clearly doing something right – and after staying there, I can see why people keep coming back.

Breakfast is simply excellent. Hotel staffs are kind and nice.
This hotel, the entire property, was very well maintained and very beautiful. The hotel staffs, esp. main lobby pick up & drop off entrance attendant, housekeeping were very professional and kind. Morning breakfast at the main restaurant was very good but the menus for three days were the same.

A very neat and relaxing place
The place was beautiful as it had many trees and facilities. Staff were professional and always provided support.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable and the gym/pool were very nice. It was close to the Gimpo airport, which was our reason for staying there.
