Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Grand Mercure Imperial Palace Seoul Gangnam, you immediately sense this is a property that takes itself seriously — and honestly, it should. The five-star hotel sits right in the heart of Gangnam, and there’s something reassuring about the polished marble lobby and the way staff members actually remember your name after the first day. I mean, you’re paying luxury rates here, so it’s nice when the experience matches the price point from the moment you arrive.
Prime Gangnam Territory
The location is genuinely exceptional, which explains why couples rate it so highly for romantic getaways. You’re on Eonju-ro, which puts you within walking distance of some of Seoul’s best shopping and dining — Apgujeong’s designer boutiques are just a few subway stops away, and Bongeunsa Temple offers a peaceful contrast when you need a break from the city’s intensity. What I particularly appreciate is that you’re in Gangnam without being stuck in the tourist chaos of Gangnam Station itself. The hotel even provides private parking, which is actually a big deal in this part of Seoul where finding a spot can be a nightmare.
The Rooms
The accommodations feel properly luxurious without being flashy about it. My room had floor-to-ceiling windows that offered solid city views, and the bathroom was spacious enough that I didn’t feel like I was playing Tetris every time I needed to move around. The beds are comfortable — not groundbreaking, but you’ll sleep well — and there’s enough desk space if you’re mixing business with pleasure. What struck me most was the attention to details like blackout curtains that actually work and outlets positioned where you’d logically want them.
Breakfast and Dining
The buffet breakfast is where this place really shines, honestly. They’ve got a solid mix of Korean and international options, and the quality is consistently good — I’m talking fresh sashimi alongside perfectly fluffy pancakes and kimchi that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting under heat lamps all morning. The coffee is decent too, which matters more than you might think when you’re dealing with jet lag. You know what’s interesting? There are tons of repeat guests here, and I suspect the breakfast is part of what keeps bringing them back.
Why Guests Love It
This hotel works because it delivers on the fundamentals without trying to be something it’s not. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience, the location puts you exactly where you want to be in Seoul, and everything from the Wi-Fi to the housekeeping just works reliably. Recent guests consistently rate the location highly, and after staying here, I get why — you’re perfectly positioned to explore both traditional and modern Seoul. It’s the kind of place where business travelers feel comfortable bringing clients, but couples also find it romantic enough for special occasions.

Guest Reviews
Very nice hotel, don’t know why rating so low, it’s better!
Location is good and breakfast was nice
The hotel is beautiful, the SPA is beautiful
A new refurbished hotel and very clean and decorated well. Thanks to Jessica my stay was enjoyable because she’s very responsive.
Clean place
Courtesious people
Club manager was hospitable and provided solutions to my complaints.
Grand and opulent lobby with grand Christmas lighting! It was a delightful experience.
The room itself was the only positive experience staying at this hotel. The hotel has potential though, once they finish renovating and have the promised facilities available, and the staff is able to have normal and kind interactions with people. I could write more but to summarize, it was a very weird experience to stay at this hotel and I wouldn't recommend it.
Amazing
Exceptional decor and atmosphere. People were constantly in the lobby taking photos as the Christmas decorations and general look of the place was amazing.
Breakfast buffet had large variety and was of a high standard.
