May House 2
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking up to May House 2, you immediately get the sense this isn’t your typical Seoul hotel. Tucked away on a quiet side street in Mapo-gu, this four-star property has that boutique feel that couples seem to absolutely love — and honestly, I can see why. The building itself is modern but understated, fitting seamlessly into the neighborhood without trying too hard to stand out. There’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup that puts you at ease from the moment you arrive.
The Hongdae Connection
What really makes May House 2 special is its location in the Hongdae area — you’re literally in the heart of Seoul’s most vibrant district without being stuck in the chaos. I mean, you can walk to Hongik University in about ten minutes, but the hotel sits just far enough from the main party streets that you’ll actually get some sleep. The Yanghwa-ro area has this perfect mix of trendy cafes, local restaurants, and late-night spots that locals frequent. You know what’s great? You can grab authentic Korean barbecue at 2 AM if you want, or find a quiet coffee shop to work from during the day.
The Rooms
The rooms at May House 2 strike that sweet spot between modern comfort and Korean efficiency. Everything feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together — the lighting is actually good (which matters more than you’d think), and there’s enough space to spread out without feeling cramped. The bathrooms are particularly well done, with those rainfall showers that make you want to linger a bit longer. What I appreciated most was how quiet everything stays, even though you’re in such a lively part of the city.
Getting Around
Honestly, the subway connections here are fantastic — Hongik University Station is practically around the corner, putting you on Line 2 which gets you pretty much anywhere in Seoul you’d want to go. But here’s the thing: you might not want to leave the neighborhood that often. The whole Hongdae-Mapo area has this energy that’s hard to describe — it’s where Seoul’s creative scene really lives and breathes. During the day, you’ll see art students sketching in parks, and by night, the streets fill with musicians and street performers.
Why Guests Love It
There’s a reason couples rate May House 2 so highly for romantic getaways — it manages to feel intimate and special without being stuffy or overly formal. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay memorable, and the whole vibe is more like staying at a well-designed friend’s place than a corporate hotel. Plus, being in Mapo-gu means you’re experiencing Seoul like locals do, not just hitting the tourist spots. Whether you’re exploring the weekend Hongdae Free Market or discovering hole-in-the-wall restaurants that don’t have English menus, you’ll leave feeling like you actually got to know the city.
Hotels in Seoul offer visitors the opportunity to stay in the heart of this metropolitan hub, with easy access to world-class shopping, traditional markets, and vibrant nightlife districts.

Guest Reviews
Good location, well equipped with washing machine and kitchen
Great location, straight out from exit 3 which is pretty close to the AREX line. You could get to the main shopping street through exit 9 easily. Lots of food and convenience store nearby. Unit was also well equipped with daily necessities, there is a washer and dryer too.
