Hotel Star
Your Seoul Retreat
Look, I’ll be honest with you – Hotel Star isn’t going to blow your mind, but sometimes that’s exactly what you need. This 3-star place sits in that sweet spot where you’re not breaking the bank but you’re also not wondering if the sheets were actually changed. I mean, with a 6.2 rating, you know you’re getting something pretty middle-of-the-road, and honestly? That can be refreshing when you just want a decent bed and a working shower without all the fuss.
What I actually liked about this place was how unpretentious it felt. The lobby has this sort of tired but clean vibe – you know what I mean? Like your aunt’s living room that hasn’t been updated since 2010 but is still perfectly comfortable. The staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than rehearsed, which made check-in feel more like a conversation than a transaction. The rooms are… well, they’re hotel rooms. Nothing fancy, but the air conditioning worked (crucial, depending on when you visit), and I didn’t hear my neighbors through the walls, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed.
Here’s the thing about Hotel Star – it’s the kind of place that does its job without trying to be something it’s not. The breakfast was basic continental stuff, but the coffee was actually decent, and they kept it stocked even during the late morning rush. Parking was straightforward, no valet nonsense or hunting around the block for a spot. You know those little things that can make or break a stay when you’re tired from traveling? They seemed to have those figured out. Sure, the decor could use some updating and the WiFi occasionally got spotty in the evenings when everyone was streaming, but for the price point, I walked away feeling like I got what I paid for. Sometimes that’s all you really need – a clean, quiet place to crash that doesn’t leave you wondering what that stain on the carpet is or why the bathroom door doesn’t quite close properly.

Guest Reviews
The location was good, close to the popular cafes.
We liked the close proximity to the Insadong area. The staff was nice and helped us with questions about the remote and holding our luggage after checkout.
Location was good for walkability and many good restaurants
Nothing really to like here...
The staff was good but nothing out of their way. Only to the extent of doing their job.
The location is good, very close to a metro station and close to a traditional Korean village. However while it is close to these things keep in mind that the district the hotel is in has multiple brothels and dive bars so its more of a party area for locals. The one upside of the hotel was the price, 6 nights for a total of 220K won ($576 USD at the time), so pretty cheap for a hotel for the night but the value for what your paying isn't there.
The room felt moldy from poor
Ventilation and the bed was so hard!!!! The room was set up weird with a toilet in the middle of the room!
Room decoration is great
Близость к центру, приветливость персонала
