Hotel PJ Myeongdong Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Hotel PJ Myeongdong? I was expecting just another decent mid-range place in the tourist zone, but this 4-star spot actually delivers on the things that matter most when you’re exploring Seoul. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve stayed there – it’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in Myeongdong, but it nails the fundamentals in a way that makes your trip smoother.
The location is honestly what sold me. I mean, everyone talks about staying in Myeongdong for the shopping and street food, but what they don’t tell you is how chaotic it gets around 7 PM when the office workers flood the streets. This hotel sits just far enough from the main drag that you can actually sleep at night, but you’re still a two-minute walk from all those late-night Korean fried chicken spots and the Myeongdong Cathedral area. The staff – and this might sound small but it matters – they actually know the neighborhood. When I asked about finding a good jjimjilbang nearby, the front desk guy didn’t just hand me a generic map, he drew me a little route and mentioned which subway exit to use. That’s the kind of local insight you don’t get at the big chain hotels.
What really impressed me was how they’ve thought about the practical stuff. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Seoul, after all), but there’s actually space to open your suitcase without doing yoga moves around the bed. The shower pressure is solid – honestly better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed at in the city. And here’s something I appreciated: they have adapters at the front desk instead of making you hunt around Myeongdong looking for an electronics shop. The breakfast situation is pretty standard Korean hotel fare, nothing fancy, but the coffee is decent and they usually have some fresh fruit. I actually found myself hanging out in their little lobby area in the evenings sometimes – it’s got this relaxed vibe where you can plan your next day without feeling rushed.
The elevator can get a bit slow during check-in hours, and the street outside gets some delivery truck noise in the early morning, but honestly? For what you’re paying and where you are, these are pretty minor things. I’ve stayed in pricier places in the area that felt more sterile and less connected to the actual rhythm of the neighborhood. Hotel PJ Myeongdong gets that balance right – comfortable enough that you feel taken care of, but authentic enough that you feel like you’re actually staying in Korea, not some international bubble.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Seoul at least two months ahead for major events like K-pop concerts and cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular attractions.

The location is so good! Very close to subway station, and a quick walk to the heart of Myeongdong.
We also needed to print a few documents for our trip to Busan and there was a business center free service on the 8th floor, super practical! The gym is also free of charge! All in all, super nice stay!Yuen from Singapore (7/10)
