Tripstay Myeongdong
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Tripstay Myeongdong, you immediately get that “smart design on a budget” vibe that Seoul does so well. The lobby sits on the fifth floor of the Arista building — yeah, you’ll take an elevator up, which feels a bit odd at first, but honestly, it works. The space is compact but thoughtfully laid out, with clean lines and that minimalist aesthetic Korean hotels have perfected. You can tell they’ve put real thought into maximizing every square meter without making it feel cramped.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about this three-star hotel — the location is absolutely killer. You’re right in the heart of Myeongdong, which means you can stumble out the door and be surrounded by street food vendors, skincare shops, and that incredible energy Seoul’s shopping districts are famous for. I mean, couples rate the location 8.4 out of 10, and I totally get why. You’re walking distance from Myeongdong Cathedral, the subway connections are fantastic, and when you want to explore Hongdae or Gangnam, you’re not stuck with a 45-minute commute. Plus, being tucked into that building means you get the central location without all the street noise that comes with ground-floor hotels.
The Rooms
The rooms at Tripstay Myeongdong are what I’d call “efficiently comfortable” — they’re not huge, but they’re designed smart. Everything you need is there: good Wi-Fi, decent air conditioning, and beds that actually let you sleep well after a day of wandering Seoul’s hills. The bathrooms are compact but functional, with those rainfall showerheads that seem standard in Korean hotels now. What I really appreciated was the storage space — they’ve managed to fit in enough closet and shelf space that you’re not living out of your suitcase for your entire stay.
The Neighborhood Experience
Staying here puts you right in the middle of one of Seoul’s most dynamic areas, and you’ll feel it the moment you step outside. Myeongdong transforms throughout the day — busy with office workers during lunch, packed with shoppers in the afternoon, and buzzing with street food energy in the evenings. You’re literally surrounded by some of the best Korean fried chicken spots, bubble tea cafes, and those famous Korean skincare stores that tourists love. The subway entrance is close enough that you don’t need to plan extra travel time, which honestly makes a huge difference when you’re trying to pack a lot into your Seoul itinerary.
Why Guests Love It
What really sets this place apart is how it balances price with location — you’re getting that prime Myeongdong address without paying five-star prices. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping guests navigate the area, and they’re good with English, which takes some stress out of travel planning. Recent guests consistently rate the location 8.8 out of 10, and after staying here, I understand the enthusiasm. You’re not just getting a place to sleep; you’re getting a base camp in one of Seoul’s most exciting neighborhoods, where you can experience the real rhythm of the city without breaking your budget.

Guest Reviews
Stayed there for 14 nights ! It was nice clean and comfortable. The only thing is the cleaning system we needed to keep asking for them to clean our room change sheets and towels. Even Though we were told when we checked in because it's a long stay our room will be cleaned every 3 days. But it didn't happen. In the kitchen most things are "Staff Only". There is laundry that you pay i think 1000 won for which is reasonable . The staff were nice and helpful. Spoke in good English We had no problems during our stay. Very close to the station and seven eleven GS25 ... Plenty of restaurants just 2 mins away. Bars as well. It is in myeongdong but 9 to 10 mins walk and the area is quieter than myeongdong and u get a great sleep.
Allowing me to have early check in, before noon. The location is good. The staff is friendly and speaks well English.
The location was good with a 2-minute walk to the train station. The staff were very friendly and helpful and you could have a free coffee in the sitting area.
Location is near a lot of historical attraction, it's quite clean and comfortable. The girl in the reception who check us in during the evening was really nice (thumbs up for her). There's places to eat near the reception. There's no breakfast though, but at least you can eat outside your room. Safe area.
This is the place for those who wanted to travel through the heart of Seoul. The place known as Hip-Ji-ro where once a small industrial area has embraced young and hip culture, very unique experience for new comers!
It's good for tourist who wanna save money. The location is good. 1 min walk to subway station and convenient store.
It’s close to the metro station and walking distance to some of the tourist spots (and a really good taco shop if you need a break from Korean food)
The room was kind of tight with 2 suitcases but bed was comfortable.
We did laundry and it was really cheap.
Wifi was good.
The staff were really nice and they all speak English well. They even helped with recommendations with food.
Staff was extremely nice, it was clean, good board with informations at reception
It's one of the cheapest offers around Seoul for a private room so it's understandably small. Train station is conveniently directly in front (1 min walk). The toilet has bidet function. Wifi was stable. Staff was friendly. They have a shared fully equiped kitchen.
