Travelodge Myeongdong Namsan
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what struck me first about Travelodge Myeongdong Namsan? It’s honestly one of those places that gets the basics really right without trying to be fancy about it. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star spot that actually delivers on what you’d expect – clean rooms, decent beds, and staff who seem to genuinely want to help rather than just go through the motions.
The location is pretty clever, actually. You’re close enough to all the Myeongdong shopping madness that you can walk there in maybe 10 minutes, but far enough away that you’re not dealing with the crazy crowds and street food smells wafting up to your window at all hours. And here’s something I really appreciated – you can actually see Namsan Tower from some of the rooms, which is kind of nice when you’re getting ready in the morning. The whole Namsan area has this slightly quieter vibe compared to the main tourist strips, so you’ll find little local restaurants tucked away that don’t have English menus plastered everywhere (Google Translate is your friend here).
What I found refreshing is that they don’t oversell what they are. The lobby’s clean and functional – nothing Instagram-worthy, but you’re not there to hang out in the lobby anyway, right? The rooms are on the smaller side, which is pretty standard for Seoul, but they’re well-designed with enough storage space that you’re not living out of your suitcase. The bathroom was surprisingly decent too – good water pressure and it actually stayed warm, which honestly can be hit or miss even at pricier places. I stayed there during cherry blossom season (probably the worst time to judge any hotel fairly because everything’s packed), and while check-in took a bit longer than usual, the front desk folks were patient and spoke solid English. One thing though – if you’re sensitive to street noise, ask for a room facing away from the main road. It’s not terrible, but Seoul never really sleeps, and you’ll hear some traffic buzz throughout the night. The 7.3 rating makes sense to me – it’s above average without being exceptional, which is exactly what you want sometimes. You get reliable wifi, a simple breakfast that won’t blow your mind but will get you going, and a location that puts you within walking distance of both the touristy stuff and some genuinely local experiences if you’re willing to wander a bit.

Great location and value for money.
Nice, clean room. Convenient store next to hotel.
Location is very good, the hotel near chugmuro exit 5 and myeongdong station. Near airport bus stop.
location is nice - just 8-10 mins walk to main myeongdong shopping district, easy to get taxi at hotel area, lots of camera shops nearby and several restaurants. Accross the hotel , there is a hangover pork rib restaurant ( ganga pork rib hangover soup in naver map) - very good and highly recommended.
