ON STAY, in SEOUL
Your Seoul Retreat
Honestly, when I first walked into ON STAY, in SEOUL, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place – but wow, this little gem completely changed my perspective on what you can get without breaking the bank. The lobby has this minimalist Korean aesthetic that feels authentically local rather than trying too hard to impress international guests, you know? There’s something refreshing about a hotel that knows exactly what it is and does it really well.
What struck me most was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about making your stay work. I mean, you’re not getting concierge service or anything fancy, but when I needed directions to Hongdae at like 10 PM, the front desk guy actually pulled up a map on his phone and walked me through the subway connections. The rooms are compact – this is Seoul after all, where space is premium – but they’re thoughtfully designed with these clever storage solutions that actually make sense. The bedding was surprisingly good quality, and I’m someone who usually tosses and turns in hotel beds. Plus, the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that you don’t typically see at this price point.
The location really works in your favor here. You’re positioned where you can easily hop between different neighborhoods without being stuck in the tourist bubble, which honestly made my whole Seoul experience feel more authentic. I could walk to some incredible street food spots that I definitely wouldn’t have found staying in the typical hotel districts. The building itself is pretty quiet – I was worried about noise since Korean cities can get pretty lively, but the windows do a decent job blocking out the street sounds. Check-in was smooth, though I’d recommend having the address written in Korean on your phone since some taxi drivers aren’t familiar with the English name. One small thing – the WiFi is solid throughout the building, which saved me when I needed to video call back home. For what you’re paying, especially considering Seoul’s hotel prices can be absolutely brutal, this place delivers way more value than you’d expect. It’s not luxury, but it’s exactly what you want when you’re actually there to explore the city rather than hang out in your room all day.
