The Seoul Overview
You know what caught me off guard about The Seoul? For a 3-star place, it honestly punches way above its weight class. I mean, when I first walked in, I was expecting the usual mid-range hotel vibe – decent but forgettable – but this place actually has some serious personality.
The lobby hits you with this interesting mix of modern Korean design elements and comfortable, lived-in touches that don’t feel like they came from a hotel catalog. There’s this subtle attention to detail that you don’t usually see at this price point – I’m talking about things like the way they’ve arranged the seating areas so you’re not staring directly at other guests, or how the lighting actually makes you look good in photos (trust me, I tested this). The staff genuinely seems to care about what they’re doing, which honestly makes such a difference. Check-in was smooth, no weird upselling tactics, and they actually remembered my name when I passed by the front desk later.
What really impressed me though – and this is coming from someone who’s stayed in way too many hotels – is how they’ve managed to create spaces that feel both Korean and universal at the same time. The rooms aren’t huge, but they’re thoughtfully designed with plenty of outlets (hallelujah), blackout curtains that actually work, and this surprisingly comfortable bedding situation. I slept better than I expected, and the shower pressure was legitimately excellent. You can tell they’ve put money into the right things rather than flashy lobby art that looks impressive but doesn’t improve your actual stay. The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you spend a night or two here – it’s one of those places where all the small things just work properly. The air conditioning responds quickly, the WiFi doesn’t cut out when you need it most, and somehow they’ve managed to keep noise levels down even when the place is busy. I actually found myself recommending it to other travelers I met, which doesn’t happen often. For what you pay, you’re getting an experience that feels more premium than the star rating suggests, and in Seoul where accommodation can get pricey fast, that’s not something to overlook.

The owner's help during our time of distress. The location of the property was excellent. The apartment was clean and equipped with useful amenities. Plenty of bottles of water was provided which were very helpful during hot/humid days.
