Poetry House
Your Seoul Retreat
When I first walked into Poetry House, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a 3-star place with such a literary name – but you know what? This little gem completely won me over. The lobby has this cozy, intimate feel that actually lives up to its poetic theme, with carefully chosen books scattered around and walls lined with verses from local writers. It’s not trying too hard to be fancy, which I really appreciated after staying at some of those overly polished chain hotels that all blur together.
What really struck me was how the staff seemed to genuinely care about the details that matter when you’re traveling. The front desk clerk (I think her name was Sarah) remembered my name every time I walked through the lobby, and when I mentioned I was looking for a good coffee spot, she didn’t just point me toward the nearest Starbucks – she actually drew me a little map to this fantastic local roastery about three blocks away. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being flashy, and I mean, for a 3-star property, the linens were surprisingly soft. My room faced the street, so there was some traffic noise in the early morning, but honestly, it wasn’t anything a pair of earplugs couldn’t handle.
The whole place has this unpretentious charm that’s getting harder to find these days. During my stay, I noticed they had this small reading nook near the staircase where guests would actually sit and chat with each other – when’s the last time you saw that happen in a hotel? The breakfast setup is simple but thoughtful, with locally sourced pastries and really good coffee (better than most places twice the price, if I’m being honest). I also loved that they had late check-in figured out perfectly – no fumbling around with key cards or confusing instructions, just smooth and easy. With an 8.8 rating, Poetry House is clearly doing something right, and after spending a few nights there, I can see why guests keep coming back. It’s one of those places that reminds you why staying somewhere with character beats generic luxury every time.

Guest Reviews
