Stay Anuk
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
When I first walked into Stay Anuk, I’ll be honest — I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another apartment building in Dongdaemun. But you know what? Sometimes the best finds are hiding in plain sight. This three-star place sits on the fourth floor of The Palace building, and while the entrance might seem a bit residential, once you’re inside, it’s actually quite charming. The whole setup feels more like staying at a well-designed friend’s place than a typical hotel, which I mean in the best possible way.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s the thing about staying in Dongdaemun — you’re right in the thick of things without the chaos of Myeongdong or Gangnam. Seoul can be overwhelming, but this neighborhood strikes that perfect balance where you feel connected to the city’s pulse. The famous Dongdaemun Design Plaza is practically on your doorstep, and honestly, walking there at night when it’s all lit up never gets old. What I really appreciated was how easy it was to grab late-night snacks from the convenience stores nearby — because let’s face it, Korean convenience store food hits different at 11 PM.
The Room Experience
The room itself surprised me with how thoughtfully everything was laid out. It’s not huge, but every inch feels purposeful, and the bed was actually comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up feeling like I’d been wrestling with it all night. The bathroom is compact but functional, with good water pressure — something you don’t always get in Seoul accommodations. I particularly liked the large window that let in plenty of natural light during the day, making the space feel bigger than it actually is.
Practical Perks
What really sold me on this place was how well it works for couples — and I can see why the feedback mentions this specifically. There’s something intimate about the whole setup that makes it feel like your own little Seoul hideaway. The Wi-Fi was solid (crucial for staying connected), and the air conditioning worked perfectly during my summer visit. Plus, the staff was genuinely helpful when I needed directions, not just politely distant like at some larger hotels.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Stay Anuk isn’t trying to be something it’s not, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re getting excellent value in a neighborhood that locals actually live in, with easy access to both traditional markets and modern shopping. The combination of that personal touch with a prime location — well, it explains why recent guests keep rating it so highly. If you want to experience Seoul like you actually live there for a few days, rather than just passing through as a tourist, this is your spot.
