Savoy Hotel Myeongdong Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to the Savoy Hotel Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in this absolutely chaotic part of Seoul. But you know what? Sometimes the mid-range spots surprise you in the best ways. The lobby’s got this sort of understated elegance that feels refreshingly calm after battling through the street food vendors and shopping crowds outside. It’s not trying to be fancy, which I actually appreciated – just clean lines, decent lighting, and staff who seemed genuinely happy to help rather than going through the motions.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to give you that authentic Myeongdong experience without the complete sensory overload. I mean, you’re literally steps away from all the skincare shops and barbecue joints, but the rooms are surprisingly quiet considering you’re in the middle of retail madness. The soundproofing is better than you’d expect – I could barely hear the street noise even on the lower floors. My room was compact but smartly laid out (this is Seoul, after all), with a surprisingly comfortable bed and a bathroom that actually had decent water pressure. The little touches matter too – they stock local toiletries instead of generic hotel brands, and there’s always hot tea available in the lobby, which became my lifesaver during those late shopping sessions.
Here’s what I wish someone had told me before I booked: the elevators get pretty packed during peak hours, so if you’re on a higher floor, factor in some extra time. Also, while the hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, honestly, why would you eat hotel food when you’ve got some of Seoul’s best street eats right outside your door? The front desk folks are genuinely knowledgeable about the neighborhood – they steered me toward this incredible hotteok vendor about two blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. The 7.9 rating makes perfect sense to me because it delivers exactly what it promises without any pretense. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s solid, well-located, and the kind of place where you can drop your bags and immediately dive into exploring without feeling like you’re missing out on some luxury hotel experience. If you’re the type who spends most of your time out and about anyway, this place gets the job done really well.

Savoy Hotel's location is a bonus if one wants to stay in Myeongdong. Room is small. Shopping is convenient. Subway stations are nearby. Will be a bonus to guests if hotel room has a portable foot massager. It is a super investment, does not cost a bomb. Most guests will be very tired after visiting places and they need foot and body massage.
Abdur from Canada (9/10)
Fantastic front staff very accommodating.
Annick from Switzerland (8/10)
Great location. Staff is very polite and try to be as helpful as possible. I stayed in 2 different types of rooms on 2 occasions and if you are unlucky you can end up by the street and it can get very noisy.
Rodolfo from Costa Rica (8/10)
