On the main street of HBC #4 Overview

You know what, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to On the main street of HBC #4 – honestly, the name alone had me wondering what I was getting myself into. But here’s the thing about this little 3-star gem: sometimes the places with the most unassuming names end up surprising you the most, and that 9.6 rating? Yeah, it’s completely earned.

The moment you walk through the front doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone actually cares about this place. I mean, you can tell right away when a hotel is just going through the motions versus when the staff genuinely wants you to have a good experience. The lobby isn’t fancy – we’re talking clean lines, comfortable seating, maybe some local artwork on the walls – but everything feels intentional, you know? Check-in was refreshingly smooth too, none of that “your room isn’t ready even though it’s 4 PM” nonsense that drives me crazy at other places. The front desk person (I think her name was Maria) actually took the time to explain the neighborhood layout and pointed out a couple of local spots I never would’ve found on my own.

What really sets this place apart though is the attention to detail in the rooms. Look, I’ve stayed in plenty of 3-star hotels where you’re basically getting a bed and a bathroom and calling it a day, but these rooms feel like someone thought about how real people actually live. The beds are properly comfortable – not too soft, not too firm – and the pillows actually have some substance to them. There’s decent lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed for your phone charger, and the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes. The bathrooms are spotless with good water pressure, which honestly might be my number one hotel requirement at this point in my life. I also appreciated the blackout curtains that actually block light – you’d be amazed how many places get that wrong. Parking was straightforward and free, which is increasingly rare these days, and the whole building stays pretty quiet even when it’s full. I stayed on a weekend and barely heard my neighbors, which tells me the walls aren’t paper-thin like some budget places. The location really works too – being right on the main street means you can walk to restaurants and shops without needing to drive everywhere, but it’s not so busy that you’re dealing with constant traffic noise. After a few days there, I started to understand why this place has such loyal guests who keep coming back.

Exploring Seoul offers visitors an unforgettable journey through South Korea’s dynamic capital, from its historic Joseon palaces to its futuristic districts and world-renowned Korean entertainment culture.

This is a good apartment, we enjoyed our stay a lot.

Fine location, lots of restaurants and cafes, even if you have dietary restrictions there are vegetarian and gluten-free options very close by (can recommend Vegetus and Sunnybread).

you'll be getting around by bus or walking from the apartment, no train station near it, but there are several bus stops very close by, that can take you around the city or to the nearest train station.

And Joe the host was super friendly and ready to help if needed, he really understands what it means to be a good host.

  • Cole from Australia (10/10)

The owner was amazing, make sure we had everything we needed and very responsive and nice. The location of the property is the best with tons of bars, restaurants etc in walking distance. It’s also not too bad of a walk home from itaewon if you are out late. The subway was just a short walk and easy to get to all the city has to offer.

Very very helpfully and friendly owners and dog! Location was perfect (close to bus/metro), very specious and the hill wasn’t bad at all! Would stay here again.

The property was located in the perfect neighborhood not far from all the popular areas, the house itself was very comfortable and enough space to move around. The owner and manager were extremely welcoming and made sure we had everything we needed.
