Nine Tree by Parnas Seoul Dongdaemun
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what really struck me about the Nine Tree by Parnas Seoul Dongdaemun? It’s one of those places that gets the whole “business hotel but make it interesting” thing exactly right. I mean, you walk into the lobby and there’s this clean, modern vibe that doesn’t feel sterile – actually feels more like a really well-designed apartment building where you’d want to live.
The location in Seoul is honestly perfect if you’re planning to do any serious shopping or late-night exploring. Dongdaemun Design Plaza is basically right there, and those massive shopping complexes that stay open until dawn? You can literally see some of them from the upper floors. I stayed on the 12th floor and could watch the whole area light up after dark – it’s pretty spectacular, though fair warning, it can get a bit noisy around midnight when the night markets really get going. The rooms themselves are surprisingly spacious for Seoul standards, and I loved that they didn’t go overboard with unnecessary decorative stuff. Everything feels purposeful, you know? The bed was firm (which I personally prefer), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showerheads that actually has decent water pressure – not always a given in Korean hotels, honestly.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to anticipate what you’d need before you asked. They had this tablet system in the lobby where you could order stuff to your room, but also – and this is the kind of detail that matters – they keep umbrellas by the front desk during rainy season without making a big deal about it. The breakfast spread was solid, nothing fancy but they did this really good Korean-Western fusion thing that worked better than it sounds. I actually ended up eating there most mornings instead of wandering around looking for coffee, which is saying something because I’m usually the type to explore. The 8.6 rating makes total sense to me – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in the city, but everything they do, they do really well. Plus, if you’re jet-lagged and need to grab something at 2 AM, there’s a 7-Eleven literally next door and a really good 24-hour Korean BBQ place about a three-minute walk away. I mean, I wouldn’t necessarily come here for a romantic getaway, but for business travel or if you want to be right in the middle of one of Seoul’s most energetic neighborhoods? It’s pretty much ideal.
