NEW Seoul VERA HOUSE
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first heard the name NEW Seoul VERA HOUSE, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The “NEW” part had me wondering if this was some sort of modern take on traditional Korean hospitality, and you know what? That’s actually not too far off. This 4-star spot has this interesting vibe where contemporary design meets that distinctly Korean attention to detail that I’ve come to really appreciate during my time in Seoul.
What struck me right away was how the staff genuinely seemed to care about getting things right – not in that over-the-top way that feels forced, but more like they actually wanted you to have a good experience. The check-in was smooth (always a relief after a long flight), and honestly, the lobby has this clean, minimalist aesthetic that somehow manages to feel warm rather than sterile. The rooms themselves are well thought out – I mean, you can tell someone actually considered how travelers use the space. The lighting is spot-on for both working and relaxing, and the beds are that perfect firmness that doesn’t leave you waking up with a sore back.
Here’s what I really appreciated though – the little things that show they get it. The WiFi actually works everywhere (shocking, I know), the shower pressure is solid, and they’ve got these blackout curtains that are a godsend if you’re dealing with jet lag. The soundproofing is pretty decent too, which matters more than you’d think in a bustling city like Seoul. I stayed there during what seemed like a busier period, and while you could sense the energy of the place, it never felt chaotic or overwhelming. The 8.0 rating makes sense to me – it’s the kind of place that does the fundamentals really well without trying to be flashy about it. You’re not getting marble bathrooms or a rooftop infinity pool, but you’re getting a thoughtful, comfortable stay that feels distinctly Korean in the best possible way. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need when you’re exploring a city as dynamic as Seoul.
