Look, I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Mangwon stayall, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes you get pleasantly surprised, and this was definitely one of those times. The moment I walked in, there was this immediate sense that whoever runs this place actually cares about the details that matter to travelers.

The location in Mangwon is honestly pretty brilliant if you know Seoul well. You’re right in this hip, slightly off-the-beaten-path neighborhood that locals love but tourists often miss. I mean, you’ve got the Mangwon Market just a short walk away – and trust me, that’s where you want to be for some of the best street food without the Myeongdong crowds. The whole area has this authentic vibe that’s hard to find in more touristy spots. Plus, the subway connection is actually really convenient (Mangwon Station is right there), so getting around the city is no problem at all.

What really impressed me was how they’ve managed to punch above their weight in terms of quality. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Seoul, after all – but everything feels thoughtfully designed. The beds are surprisingly comfortable, and I’m someone who usually struggles with hotel mattresses. The bathrooms are modern and clean, with that Korean attention to detail you hope for but don’t always get. I particularly loved the little touches, like having proper hangers (you’d be amazed how many places cheap out on these) and blackout curtains that actually work. The staff speaks decent English, which isn’t always a given in this neighborhood, and they were genuinely helpful with restaurant recommendations. One person even drew me a little map to this incredible galbi place that I never would have found otherwise. The Wi-Fi is solid throughout – I was working remotely for part of my stay and had zero issues. And here’s something that might matter to you: the walls are surprisingly well soundproofed. Seoul can be noisy, but I slept really well here. With a 9.7 rating, I can see why people keep coming back. It’s not fancy or flashy, but it’s the kind of place that gets all the fundamentals right while giving you that authentic Seoul neighborhood experience. If you want to stay somewhere that feels more like a local secret than a tourist trap, this is your spot.
