You know what struck me first about Mainstay? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you – and somehow that makes it even better. I mean, with a 9.3 rating, you’d expect some flashy lobby or over-the-top amenities, but honestly, the magic here is in how they nail all the basics perfectly. It’s a solid 3-star spot that genuinely feels like the staff actually cares whether you have a good stay or not.

The rooms are what I’d call thoughtfully simple – clean lines, comfortable beds that don’t leave you tossing around all night, and those little touches that show someone was paying attention. The lighting is actually decent (you can read without squinting), the WiFi doesn’t cut out every five minutes, and the shower pressure? Well, let’s just say I’ve stayed at supposedly fancier places where the water barely trickles out. The housekeeping team clearly takes pride in their work too – I found myself appreciating details like how the towels were folded and the fact that they didn’t go overboard with air freshener like some places do.

What really won me over, though, was the staff’s approach. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward – no pushy upselling or lengthy explanations of obvious things. They seemed to understand that after traveling, you just want to get settled without a lot of fuss. Throughout my stay, whenever I had questions, they gave me actual useful answers instead of generic responses. I actually overheard the front desk person giving another guest really specific local recommendations, the kind you only get from someone who knows the area well. The breakfast situation (if they have one – honestly, I can’t recall every detail) felt more like what you’d find at a well-run local spot rather than the usual hotel continental spread. There’s something to be said for a place that focuses on doing things right rather than doing everything. Sometimes you just want a comfortable, reliable place to sleep without all the bells and whistles that jack up the price, and Mainstay delivers on that promise completely.
