Hyuns 201 – Seoul station 5 min by walk
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Hyuns 201 – Seoul station 5 min by walk? I was expecting some cramped little place squeezed near the train tracks, but this spot actually has character. I mean, sure, you can hear the occasional rumble from the station, but honestly it’s more like a gentle urban lullaby than anything disruptive – and trust me, I’m someone who usually needs complete silence to sleep.
The five-minute walk thing is legit, by the way. I timed it because I’m that kind of person, and even dragging a heavy suitcase through the underground passages (which, let’s be real, you’ll probably use during rainy season), it’s maybe six minutes tops. What I really appreciated was how the host – I’m guessing Hyun – had left these detailed notes about the neighborhood that you just don’t get at chain hotels. Little things like which convenience store has the best late-night ramen selection and where to catch the airport bus without the usual tourist chaos. The room itself feels more spacious than the photos suggest, probably because they’ve got this clever setup with mirrors that doesn’t feel gimmicky. The bed was actually comfortable too – not just “decent for the price” comfortable, but genuinely restful after those long days wandering around Seoul.
Here’s what sold me on this place, though: the practical stuff just works. The wifi doesn’t mysteriously cut out when you need to video call home, the hot water pressure is solid (seriously underrated when you’re staying in older Seoul buildings), and there’s enough power outlets that you’re not playing musical chairs with your devices. I stayed during peak cherry blossom season when everything in the city was packed and overpriced, and while other travelers were complaining about their accommodations, I was genuinely content here. The neighborhood has this interesting mix of business travelers rushing to catch KTX trains and locals going about their daily routines – it feels authentic in a way that some of the touristy districts just don’t. Plus, you’re positioned perfectly to explore both the historic parts of the city and the trendy areas without spending half your day on the subway. The 4-star rating feels right for this place; it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything you need is there and done well. For what it’s worth, I’d definitely book here again on my next Seoul trip.
