About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

I’ll be honest – when I first walked up to Huesik Guesthouse, I wasn’t sure what to expect. It’s one of those places that doesn’t shout for attention, which honestly turned out to be part of its charm. The building has this understated, almost residential feel that makes you feel like you’re staying at a friend’s place rather than just another tourist accommodation.

The owner greeted me personally at check-in, and you know what struck me? They actually remembered my name throughout my stay – not something you get at the bigger chain hotels. The rooms are pretty straightforward, nothing fancy, but they’re clean and surprisingly quiet considering it’s a guesthouse. I mean, the walls aren’t paper-thin like some budget places I’ve stayed at. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit soft for my taste (but that’s just me being picky). What I really appreciated was the attention to small details – fresh towels that actually smelled clean, decent water pressure in the shower, and little touches like having a small kettle in the room.

The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you actually want to hang out. I ended up chatting with other travelers over coffee in the morning, which doesn’t always happen at places like this. The staff genuinely seems to care about helping you figure out the area – not just handing you a generic tourist map, but actually giving you real suggestions based on what you’re interested in. They pointed me toward this local spot for dinner that I never would have found on my own, and it ended up being one of the highlights of my trip. Look, it’s a 3-star place with a 6.8 rating, so set your expectations accordingly – you’re not getting luxury amenities or room service. But what you are getting is solid value and that increasingly rare thing: genuine hospitality. The Wi-Fi actually works well (tested it for video calls), and there’s this nice communal kitchen if you want to grab some groceries and save money on meals. Just keep in mind that it can get a bit busy during peak times, so if you’re planning to cook, maybe avoid the typical dinner rush hours.

It was located really near Exit 4 of Myeongdong station and the room is big for 1 person. They have free water and instant ramen. They are very responsive when you message them.

The property was a little shabby, but that was fine. The room itself smelled awful, the bathroom was main source of the smell and the window was open, but it didn’t help at all. There were dead bugs stuck to the walls.

It was just right at Myeongdong so anything you needed from the subway to food to nightlife and shopping were all in a few steps away. The rooms were adorable and clean and complete with everything you need.
