Koon House
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest with you – when I first pulled up to Koon House, I wasn’t expecting much from this 3-star spot. The exterior has that sort of modest, no-frills look that either means you’re in for a pleasant surprise or… well, you know. But here’s the thing about places like this: they often have character that the flashier hotels lack, and Koon House actually delivers on that front in some unexpected ways.
The lobby immediately felt different from your typical budget-friendly hotel – there’s this lived-in warmth that makes you think someone actually cares about the place. Check-in was refreshingly straightforward (no upselling, no lengthy explanations about amenities you didn’t ask for), and the staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions. My room was clean and functional, though I mean, let’s be realistic about expectations here – the 6.4 rating tells you this isn’t going to be luxury. The bed was comfortable enough, and honestly, the shower had better water pressure than some pricier places I’ve stayed. What struck me most was how quiet it was at night, which is actually pretty rare these days.
You know what I appreciated? The little things that show someone’s paying attention. Fresh towels that actually smelled fresh, not like industrial detergent. A decent mirror in the bathroom with good lighting. The kind of practical curtains that actually block light when you’re trying to sleep in. The WiFi worked without having to call the front desk three times, which – trust me – is more valuable than you’d think. Sure, the décor isn’t going to win any design awards, and the carpet has definitely seen better days, but there’s something to be said for a place that focuses on the basics and gets them right. I’ve stayed at hotels with twice the star rating where half the electrical outlets didn’t work and the air conditioning sounded like a freight train. Here, everything just… worked. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need – a straightforward place to rest without any drama, where your key card actually opens your door on the first try and nobody’s trying to charge you fifteen dollars for a bottle of water.

Can star up to 8. Big enough for us.
Everything was great!
Host was accommodating in request to check in earlier and also to leave luggage after checkout. Also timely check ins and notification on the smell in the toilet.
Nothing, everything was dirty and bad. The air was almost toxic and we couldn't breathe well. I worried about people booking this place, the host shoumd not be able to rent it
Location
The house is a bit hidden but the location wise is excellent as it is near to Seoul Station. The house has everything you need for your stay. There's coffee shop, mart nearby. Easy to grab a taxi if dont feel like taking train for the day. The landlord also was very accomodating and helpful to ensure we have a great stay, which we did. Its also within walking distance to namsan tower but be mindful that the area is quite hilly and you may be out of breath once you reach namsan tower ;) Overall it was a good place to stay :)
the apartment is well equipped with sufficient towels and bedding for my family of 7. it is also cozy and warm during the cold winter. There are convenient store and restaurants nearby and it is less than 10 mins walk to Seoul station .
서울역 근처라서 예약했습니다. 친구들이 지방에서 올라오니 역 가까운 곳이 좋았습니다.
침대가 여러개 인 것은 좋았습니다. 컵 등이 잘 갖추어져 있었어 좋았습니다.
