Hotel28 Myeongdong Overview
You know what? I wasn’t expecting much from Hotel28 Myeongdong when I first walked up to it – honestly, the name sounds pretty generic and I’d never heard anyone talking about it before. But sometimes the places that fly under the radar end up being exactly what you need, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant surprises that makes you feel a bit smug for discovering it.
The thing about staying in Myeongdong is that you’re basically in the eye of the storm – it’s tourist central during the day, with all those sheet mask shops and street food vendors, but Hotel28 sits just tucked away enough that you don’t feel like you’re sleeping in the middle of a shopping mall. I mean, you’re still going to hear some street noise (it’s Seoul, after all), but it’s more of that low urban hum rather than people shouting outside your window at midnight. The building itself is narrow and tall, which is pretty typical for this neighborhood – they really pack everything in tight here. Check-in was surprisingly smooth actually, and the front desk staff spoke better English than I expected, though they seemed to switch to Korean with each other pretty naturally, which I always take as a good sign that it’s not just a tourist trap.
What really got me was how clean everything felt – not just surface-level clean, but like, properly maintained clean. The hallways had this faint smell of that industrial-strength cleaner that somehow manages to be reassuring rather than chemical-y, and the elevator (tiny, but functional) was spotless. My room was compact but intelligently designed, with enough space to actually open your suitcase without having to climb over it to get to the bathroom. The bed was firm in that Korean way that I’ve come to appreciate, and honestly, after walking around Myeongdong all day, you just want something supportive to collapse onto. They’ve got good blackout curtains too, which matters more than you’d think when you’re dealing with jet lag and those bright Seoul streetlights. The bathroom was small but had decent water pressure – not life-changing, but totally adequate for a quick shower before heading out to explore. What I really appreciated was how quiet the place got at night despite being in such a busy area. You’ll still hear the occasional motorbike or late-night delivery truck, but the walls seem thick enough that you’re not listening to your neighbors’ conversations. Plus, being right in Myeongdong means you can stumble back from dinner without having to navigate the subway system, which is honestly worth the slightly higher price point. For a 3-star place, it punches above its weight – that 9.2 rating isn’t just people being generous.
To book hotel in Seoul during the vibrant cherry blossom season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts K-culture enthusiasts and modern travelers from around the world.

It was very modern, the furnishing is new and amenities are great.
Small things like replenishable complimentary mini bar, Dyson hair dryer and friendly staff made our time in Seoul just more enjoyable.Alejandra from United States (8/10)
Loved the bed, the huge bathrooms and separate WC for some privacy. They had a dyson blow dryer and nespresso machine. and Its a good location, near many many restaurants and shops but its a very touristy area. Beware. It can get very busy around there at night. Its not noisy at all tho, and the blackout curtains were great
