Lemontree
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what really caught me off guard about Lemontree? For a 3-star place, it punches way above its weight class. I mean, when I first pulled up, I wasn’t expecting much – honestly thought I’d booked one of those cookie-cutter budget spots you forget about five minutes after checkout. But this little gem actually has character.
The lobby hits you with this fresh, citrusy scent (clever touch given the name, right?) and there’s something genuinely welcoming about the whole vibe. The staff – and I’m not just saying this because they were nice to me – actually seem to care about what they’re doing. Check-in was smooth, none of that painful waiting around while they hunt for your reservation on some ancient computer system. The rooms are clean and thoughtfully put together, nothing fancy but everything works properly, which honestly is half the battle these days. I particularly loved the lighting – soft enough that you don’t feel like you’re in a hospital, but bright enough to actually read without squinting. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, and I’m pretty picky about mattresses after too many nights on questionable hotel furniture.
What really impressed me though is how they handle the little things that most places overlook. The Wi-Fi actually works throughout the building (miracle!), the water pressure in the shower doesn’t make you feel like you’re being misted by a garden sprinkler, and – this might sound weird – but the towels smell properly fresh, not like that musty laundry smell some hotels think passes for clean. The whole place just feels well-maintained without being stuffy about it. I stayed during what seemed like a busy period, but it never felt chaotic or overwhelmed. You can tell they’ve figured out their systems. Even the housekeeping runs like clockwork – they’re efficient but not intrusive, and they actually pay attention to details like replacing the coffee packets and making sure you have enough toilet paper (you’d be amazed how often places mess this up). The 9 rating this place has earned makes total sense once you’ve stayed there. It’s not trying to be something it’s not, just doing everything really well within its category. For the price point, you’re getting genuine value rather than just a place to crash for the night.
