Hotel The Designers DDP Overview

I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Hotel The Designers DDP, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect from the name alone. It’s one of those places that sounds more intriguing than it initially appears, and honestly, that’s kind of the story of this whole place. The lobby has this sort of minimalist vibe going on, like someone really committed to the “designer” concept but kept it restrained enough that it doesn’t feel pretentious. You know what I mean? There’s clean lines everywhere, some interesting lighting fixtures that actually work well, and the front desk staff seemed genuinely helpful rather than just going through the motions.

The rooms are where things get interesting though. I mean, it’s a three-star place so you’re not getting marble everything, but there’s clearly been some thought put into the design elements. The furniture feels sturdy – not that flimsy stuff you sometimes get where you’re afraid to actually use the desk chair. What really caught my attention was how they handled the lighting; there are these cool angular fixtures that give off just the right amount of warmth without making the space feel too stark. The beds are actually pretty comfortable, though I’d say the pillows could use an upgrade if I’m being picky. The bathroom was clean and modern, nothing fancy but everything worked properly, which honestly matters more than you’d think until you’ve stayed somewhere where the shower pressure is basically decorative.

Location-wise, you’re in a spot that feels connected without being right in the chaos of everything. I found myself walking to quite a few places rather than dealing with taxis, which is always a win in my book. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel – you’ll see actual locals going about their business, not just tourists wandering around looking lost. There’s decent coffee within a block or two (trust me, I checked), and the area doesn’t get annoyingly loud at night, though you might hear some street noise if you’re sensitive to that sort of thing. Parking was surprisingly manageable when I visited, but I’d probably ask about that when booking since these things can change. The 6.7 rating actually feels about right – it’s not going to blow you away, but it delivers on what it promises without any major disappointments. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, especially if you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring rather than lounging around the hotel anyway.

Reviews of Hotel The Designers DDP

  • Diane from Luxembourg (9/10)

I was very positively surprised by the hotel. The room was large, bright, clean. Everything you could wish for as a single traveler. The bathroom was also great, a bathtub and a heated toilet. Honestly, the reviews of other travelers were not so great, so I was a bit unsure whether I should book this hotel. But I was very happy with my decision. You can indicate at the front desk if you want the room to be cleaned. That also worked out great. Unfortunately, they don't speak very good English but with Google Translate the communication worked out. The location is also good. About 20min walk from Myeongdong and not far from Dongdaemun Design Plaza and good metro train connections.
Unfortunately, there was not really a breakfast but I can highly recommend the French bakery "Tous les jours" just around the corner. I've traveled a lot myself and put a lot of emphasis on cleanliness. Overall, it was a great stay and I have nothing to criticize.

  • Cj from Australia (6/10)

The Bedroom was huge. Very art deco with nice view from the bedroom. Location was not ideal as there is nothing to eat around the hotel (especially when you arrived late at night). There is a few convenience store but not really proper meal. We had a long walk around to try and find food but unfortunately was not lucky as everywhere was closed except for the convenience store.

I liked that the hotel is very close to the metro station and to many restaurants and shops. The staff doesn’t speak English very well but anyway they did their best to help us and we appreciate the effort.
