Hotel Lumia Myeongdong
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what surprised me about Hotel Lumia Myeongdong? It’s one of those places that doesn’t look like much from the street, but once you’re inside, you realize someone actually thought about what travelers need. I mean, it’s a solid 3-star spot that punches above its weight – the 8-point rating isn’t just wishful thinking from the management.
The thing about staying in Myeongdong is that you’re basically in the heart of Seoul‘s shopping madness, which sounds overwhelming until you experience how convenient it actually makes everything. I honestly loved being able to duck back to the hotel between exploring sessions – and trust me, you’ll want those breaks when you’re navigating the crowds around Myeongdong Cathedral and all those cosmetics shops. The hotel’s tucked away just enough that you escape the main street chaos, but you’re still maybe a three-minute walk from Myeongdong Station. That subway access is gold, especially when your feet are screaming after a day of walking around Dongdaemun or heading up to Namsan Tower.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to get that most guests are there to explore, not hang out in the lobby all day. Check-in was smooth – no endless paperwork or confused looks when I spoke English. The rooms are clean and well-thought-out, though don’t expect huge spaces (this is Seoul, after all). The beds are actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given at this price point, and the bathrooms are compact but functional. I appreciated that they provided decent toiletries instead of those tiny bottles that disappear after one shower. The Wi-Fi worked reliably throughout the building, which honestly matters more than fancy marble when you’re trying to navigate a new city or stay in touch with people back home. One small thing that bugged me – the elevators can get crowded during peak times, but that’s more about the hotel’s popularity than poor planning. Overall, Hotel Lumia Myeongdong hits that sweet spot where you feel like you’re getting good value without sacrificing the basics that make a trip enjoyable.

Guest Reviews
Super close to Myeongdong market and shopping area
Location was great - 1 stop on the subway (or else 10 minute walk) from Seoul station. Make sure you check Naver for which exit to take out of the subway station though; if you take the correct exit then it is just 2 minutes up the road. (Otherwise, can be a little harder). Overall very kind staff and the room was surprisingly big for Seoul. Great location, walkable to the Myeongdang market, etc. Able to store bags before check-in/after check out without any issues.
Breakfast provided every morning water and clean towels. Rooftop was beautiful
The hotel is located super close to the metro station making it easy to go around Seoul from the hotel. There is complimentary breakfast each morning. Overall the staff, namely Chris, was lovely and very helpful. It's nice that they have an automatic check in/check out as it simplifies things when you leave early.
It was nice and and tidy. The staff was very welcoming. It’s a nice and friendly hotel to stay in Seoul as it has a good location and access to both bus and subway stations. The Namdaemun market is just around the corner as well.
The hotel is near subway station n myeongdong area. There is free coffee n bread in the lounge room. Bed n pillow comfortable. Very generous with toilet rolls. Receptionist helpful n friendly.
The hotel was perfect if you are travelling with friends. They were able to accommodate 3 pax albeit 3 single beds. The room is a bit tight for 3 people - you really can't walk around but the location makes up for it. It is close to the train station as well as walking distance to Namdaemun Market and Naman Tower.
They have a lovely rooftop deck that's perfect for evenings with a view of the lit up N Tower!
Very convenient/ close to everything.

I chose for the location. It’s in a central location and close enough to walk to the train station to get to the airport. Large outdoor market very close which was great and the major evening shopping district. Metro stop at the corner so it was great. View at night from my room, posted.
