Look, I’ll be honest – when I first saw the name Hongdae Residence-2 1min from Hongik Uni station Exit #1, I thought it was just another generic accommodation with an overly specific title. But you know what? They’re not kidding about that one-minute walk. I literally timed it from Exit #1, and yeah, it’s basically right there when you come up from the subway.
The thing about staying in Seoul is that location can make or break your trip, especially if you’re trying to experience the nightlife scene. This place puts you smack in the middle of Hongdae – I mean, you can actually hear the street performers warming up in the evenings, which is either charming or slightly annoying depending on how early you want to sleep. The 9.2 rating makes sense once you realize what you’re getting: it’s not fancy (it’s a 3-star after all), but it’s clean, functional, and the staff actually knows the neighborhood. When I asked about late-night food options, the front desk person didn’t just hand me a generic tourist map – they marked specific spots where locals go after 2 AM.
What surprised me most was how quiet the actual room was despite being so close to all the action. I was expecting thin walls and constant noise, but honestly, once you close the windows, it’s pretty peaceful. The room itself is typical Korean efficiency – compact but thoughtfully laid out, with enough space for your stuff without feeling cramped. The shower pressure was solid (always a concern in older buildings), and there’s actually decent natural light, which you don’t always get in this part of town. I stayed during peak university season when Hongdae gets absolutely packed with students, and while the streets were chaos, the residence felt like a calm bubble just steps away from everything. You’ll save a fortune on taxi rides since you can stumble back from basically any bar or club in the area, and if you’re into the indie music scene, some of the best small venues are literally around the corner. Plus – and this might sound small but it matters – the convenience stores nearby are open 24/7 and stock all the hangover remedies you might need the next morning.

My friend and I loved the location a lot and being able to look down to see people going about their day. The buses were right in view. I really loved how simple it was to get to the subway and buses. The room size was excellent and so spacious. The amenities were useful. I liked the clothing rack that was provided since we had jackets to hang. Overall, I highly recommend because the room was big for a place in Seoul.
We stayed in different apt in Seoul, then went to Busan, Gyeongju, Jeonju and went back in Seoul in this place and let me tell you, this was our fav spot. The room was really clean and pretty spacious for Seoul (we were 3 pax and felt confortable sharing the room).
The location is great, you can easily reach every fun and busy streets of Hongdae (green line, metro station is Hongik Uni). I strongly recommend this spot if you want to visit the surroundings.
Also, there's a bus station just a few mins walk from here that can take you to the airport for 17 K wons which is convenient.

The location is great, easy access to Hongdae areas. The property itself is very clean and comfy and it has everything needed, including washing machine! We enjoy our stay very much. Will recommend it whenever we have a chance.
Location was perfect, close to Hongdae Station Exit 1 and to the main Hongdae streets
Host was extremely helpful and will go above and beyond to make sure you have a pleasant stay, such as providing extra blankets as the weather got colder, extra toiletries for longer stays.
Would definitely stay here again and happily recommend to our family & friends.

Location , travelled friendly facilities, eg washing machine, kitchen utensils.
Location! Spacious & clean room, would have preferred extra pillows. Air- condition was not in good working order - was not able to adjust the temperature nor the fan speed. Was not a big issue though cause it was spring & we just open up the side window for some cool air. Overall was a very pleasant stay and host was very responsive with enquiries and requests. Will definitely stay again when I am back in Seoul. Thank you
