OU House
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first heard about OU House, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up being the real gems, and this place actually surprised me in the best way possible. The moment you walk through the front doors, there’s this immediate sense that someone here actually cares about the details. The lobby isn’t trying too hard to impress with marble and chandeliers, but everything feels thoughtfully put together – like someone’s well-decorated home rather than a corporate hotel chain.
What really got me was how the staff seemed to genuinely remember guests’ names and preferences. I mean, the front desk clerk remembered I preferred a room away from the elevator after just one conversation, and honestly, that kind of attention is getting rarer these days. The rooms themselves have this comfortable, lived-in quality without feeling worn down – you know that sweet spot where everything works perfectly but doesn’t feel sterile? The beds are surprisingly comfortable (I’m pretty picky about mattresses), and I actually slept better here than at some much pricier places I’ve stayed. The bathrooms are clean and functional, though don’t expect a huge soaking tub or anything fancy – but the water pressure is solid and the towels are fluffy enough.
Here’s the thing that really sets OU House apart though – it’s got this neighborhood feel that makes you want to stick around and explore rather than just crash for the night. The common areas have these cozy corners where you’ll find yourself chatting with other travelers, and there’s usually something interesting happening, whether it’s a local musician playing in the evening or just really good conversations over coffee. The wifi actually works everywhere (miracle of miracles), so you can work from pretty much any spot if you need to. Parking was easier than I expected too – there’s a small lot that rarely fills up completely, and street parking isn’t the nightmare it can be in busier areas. I’d definitely come back here, especially if I wanted somewhere that feels more like staying with friends than just another hotel room. It’s one of those places where the high rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there – not because it’s flashy, but because it just gets the fundamentals right and adds those little touches that make you feel at home.
