Dormy Inn EXPRESS SEOUL Insadong
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Dormy Inn EXPRESS SEOUL Insadong, you immediately get that “this place knows what it’s doing” vibe. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — just a solid three-star hotel that clearly understands what travelers actually need. The lobby has this clean, modern feel without being sterile, and honestly, the staff seemed genuinely happy to see guests rather than just going through the motions.
Location Magic
Here’s the thing about staying in Insadong — you’re basically in the cultural heart of Seoul, and this hotel sits right in the sweet spot. I mean, you step outside and you’re immediately surrounded by traditional tea houses, art galleries, and those amazing little shops selling everything from handmade pottery to Korean calligraphy supplies. The couples who stay here absolutely love it (they rate the location 9.5, which honestly makes perfect sense), and I can see why — there’s something romantic about wandering these narrow streets in the evening.
Getting Around
What I really appreciated was how walkable everything is from here. Anguk Station is just a few minutes away, so you can easily hop on the subway to explore other parts of the city. But honestly, you might find yourself just wanting to stay in the neighborhood — Insadong has this way of making you slow down and actually experience Seoul rather than just rushing through it.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how some hotels feel cramped while others feel cozy? This definitely falls into the cozy category. Everything you need is there without feeling cluttered, and the bed was surprisingly comfortable for a business hotel. The bathroom was spotless, which always matters more than people think it will.
Practical Touches
What struck me were the little details that show they actually think about their guests. Good lighting for reading, enough outlets in useful places, and — this might sound small — but the air conditioning actually worked quietly. You’d be amazed how many hotels get that wrong.
Morning Fuel
The buffet breakfast deserves its own mention because it’s one of those pleasant surprises that sets the tone for your whole day. They’ve got a nice mix of Korean and Western options, so whether you’re feeling adventurous or just want something familiar, you’re covered. I actually found myself looking forward to trying different combinations each morning — the Korean side dishes paired surprisingly well with scrambled eggs.
Breakfast Atmosphere
The breakfast area gets busy around 8 AM (fair warning), but there’s something nice about the energy — everyone’s gearing up for their Seoul adventures, and you can overhear snippets of travel plans in about five different languages.
Why This Place Works
Look, this isn’t the fanciest hotel in Seoul, and it’s not trying to be. What it does really well is give you a comfortable, reliable base in one of the city’s most interesting neighborhoods. The 8.9 rating makes sense when you consider that guests consistently mention feeling like they made a smart choice rather than just settling for something adequate.
The Insadong Advantage
Staying here means you’re living like a local in some ways — grabbing coffee from the little café down the street, discovering which restaurant has the best bibimbap, figuring out that the art supply store on the corner stays open surprisingly late. It’s the kind of experience that makes Seoul feel less like a tourist destination and more like a place you’re temporarily calling home.
Bottom Line
If you want to wake up in the middle of Seoul’s most culturally rich neighborhood without paying five-star prices, this is your spot. The hotel does exactly what it promises — gives you a clean, comfortable place to sleep and recharge while you explore one of the city’s most fascinating areas. Sometimes that’s exactly what you need, and Dormy Inn EXPRESS delivers it without any fuss or pretense.

Guest Reviews
The location of this hotel was fantastic, almost everything we wanted to visit was super close including bus stations, metro stations and convenience stores. The cleanliness was also excellent. We also received 2 bottles of water each day and checkin and checkout went very smoothly.
The staff were friendly, and we didn't have any issues
Did not expect the free facilities (e.g., onsen and supper)! Truly enjoyed them
Location of the hotel is great, very convenient. The room was nice, and staff very helpful and friendly. We had great time in this hotel
Location was great, right in the heart of Insadong. Easy access to shopping, food and sights.
Location. Straight forward tourist : in and out hotel
The location is perfect. Definitely would come back again if i get a chance
This is a highly recommended and value for money option in Seoul; it’s located in the heart of the one of the most interesting parts of Seoul and the room, whilst small (as you expect in this city) was very well set out to make the most of the space and the bed was really comfortable. The room was quiet too, so I slept very well here. The breakfasts were also good too.
Was spotless clean and everyone was more than happy to help with anything.
Super good breakfast (Japanese food, fresh fruit, bread, cereals...)
The staff is nice and friendly
and a very nice Spa.
Also, the hotel is close to 2 different MTR lines, and restaurants, shops, which is very convenient.
