Creto Hotel Myeongdong Overview
I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Creto Hotel Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in one of Seoul‘s busiest districts. But you know what? Sometimes the unassuming spots end up surprising you the most. The lobby’s got this clean, minimalist vibe that feels refreshingly calm after navigating the absolute chaos of Myeongdong’s shopping streets outside. I mean, if you’ve ever tried to walk through that area on a weekend evening, you’ll appreciate having a quiet refuge to retreat to.
What really won me over was how the staff seemed to actually get what travelers need. The front desk person – I think his name was James – knew exactly which subway exit would get me closest to Dongdaemun without having to surface three times (trust me, this matters when you’re hauling shopping bags). The rooms are smaller than what you might be used to if you’re coming from outside Asia, but they’re smartly designed. Everything has its place, the bed is surprisingly comfortable, and honestly, the shower pressure is better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed at in the city. There’s this little desk area by the window where I actually got some work done, which rarely happens when I travel – usually hotel desk setups are either too cramped or weirdly positioned.
The location aspect is where this place really shines, though I hate using that phrase because every hotel claims great location. Here’s the thing – you’re literally a two-minute walk from Myeongdong Station, which connects you to pretty much everywhere you want to go. But more importantly, you’re close enough to duck into Lotte Department Store when it starts raining (and it will start raining), yet far enough from the main pedestrian area that you’re not dealing with crowds of tourists taking selfies right outside your window at midnight. I discovered this little 24-hour convenience store around the corner that became my go-to for late-night snacks and morning coffee – the kind of local spot you only find when you’re staying somewhere for more than just a night or two. The neighborhood gets surprisingly quiet after 10 PM, which I wasn’t expecting given how hectic everything is during the day. Sure, you might hear the occasional delivery scooter, but nothing that kept me awake. For the price point and that 8.3 rating it’s got, Creto delivers exactly what it promises without trying to be something it’s not – which, honestly, is pretty refreshing in a city where everything seems to be competing to be the flashiest.

The location of the hotel is fantastic. On one of the quieter streets of myeondong, but a 2 min walk into the thick of everything. Close to the train station and bus stops.
The staff were lovely, very helpful and friendly. The cleaners were thorough and the rooms tidy.
The rooms were not that small for the middle of Seoul, enough room around the bed and great sized bathroom with a bath.
