Check-in was pretty smooth, though the staff’s English is hit or miss (honestly, that’s pretty typical for this area). The rooms are what you’d expect for a mid-range place – nothing fancy, but they’re clean and functional. I mean, the bathrooms are tiny, which seems to be a universal truth about Korean hotels, but everything worked fine. The bedding was comfortable enough, and I actually slept better than I expected. What I liked about staying here was how it put me right in an authentic Seoul neighborhood that doesn’t get overrun with tourists. You’re walking distance from some solid local restaurants – there’s this amazing galbi place just two blocks over that locals line up for. The subway connections are decent if you know what you’re doing, though honestly, you’ll probably want to use taxis or the bus for some destinations. Parking was surprisingly manageable, which is actually a big deal in Seoul. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but with the convenience stores and food options right outside, you won’t starve. I grabbed coffee from the 7-Eleven downstairs more mornings than I’d like to admit. Look, this isn’t a luxury experience – the 7.3 rating feels about right. But if you want a clean, no-nonsense base for exploring Seoul without paying Gangnam prices, 앤하우스 강동 does the job. Just don’t expect room service or a concierge who can book you theater tickets.
