Well Plus Guest House
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what, I wasn’t expecting much when I first pulled up to Well Plus Guest House – honestly, the name sounds a bit generic and I’d driven past it a few times without really noticing. But sometimes the places that don’t try too hard end up surprising you, and this turned out to be one of those pleasant discoveries that makes you feel like you’ve found something the guidebooks missed.
The thing about this place is that it gets the basics really, really right. I mean, we’re talking about a solid 3-star spot here, so you’re not going to find marble lobbies or infinity pools, but what you will find is genuine hospitality from people who actually seem to care whether you have a good stay. The owner – I think his name was David – was there during check-in and gave me these specific walking directions to a little café around the corner that I never would have found otherwise. That’s the kind of local insight you just can’t get from chain hotels, you know? The rooms themselves are clean and comfortable in that unpretentious way that lets you actually relax. Nothing fancy, but the beds are decent (I’m picky about mattresses), the shower has proper water pressure, and there’s this nice natural light that comes through in the mornings. I actually appreciated that they didn’t go overboard with decorating – sometimes less is more, and you can tell they put their money into things that matter, like good linens and reliable wifi.
What really sold me on the place, though, was the atmosphere. It’s quiet without being dead – you’ll hear some street sounds during the day, but nothing that keeps you up at night. The other guests seemed like actual travelers rather than business people rushing around, which created this relaxed vibe where people would chat in the common areas without it feeling forced. And honestly, for the price point, you’re getting way better value than you’d find at the big hotel chains. The 7.8 rating makes sense to me – it’s not trying to be luxury, but it delivers exactly what it promises. If you’re the type of traveler who values character over chrome and prefers spending your money on experiences rather than overpriced room service, this is definitely worth considering. Just don’t expect them to have every amenity under the sun – but then again, that’s sort of the point.
Best hotels in Seoul range from luxurious properties in the upscale Gangnam district to boutique hotels with stunning views of Namsan Tower and the Han River.

Location was brilliant. Very close to Namsam North Tower and also very close to a lot of Get Your Guide pickup points.
The owner was lovely and brought us a morning breakfast drink on the first day.
The bed was comfortable and the room clean and big enough for a couple (one of us pregnant as well). It was good value.
- Nice beds.
- Nice location. Subway is only five minutes away by foot.
- The staff is very friendly. Even though we missed breakfast, he made us some Korean specialty in the morning.
Facilities, cleanness, the room was brand new.
Great location on Myeungdong, close to the main shopping streets and the Seoul Tower. Walkable to the Palace.
