voco Seoul Myeongdong, an IHG Hotel Overview
You know what really struck me about voco Seoul Myeongdong, an IHG Hotel? It’s one of those places where you can tell someone actually thought about what travelers need, rather than just cramming in fancy stuff nobody uses. I mean, sure, it’s got that sleek modern vibe you’d expect from a 4-star property, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole experience.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant – you’re right in the thick of Myeongdong’s shopping chaos, which sounds overwhelming but actually works in your favor. I loved being able to duck out for late-night Korean fried chicken or grab those little sheet masks everyone talks about, then retreat back to the hotel when the crowds got too intense. The staff seemed genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions – they’d actually give you directions to specific shops or recommend places that weren’t total tourist traps. Check-in was smooth (no weird delays or confusing policies), and the lobby has this comfortable, lived-in feeling that makes you want to linger with a coffee rather than rushing up to your room.
What really sold me on the place, though, were the little details that show they understand Seoul. The rooms are designed for actual comfort – decent-sized beds, proper blackout curtains (crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag), and bathrooms that don’t make you feel like you’re showering in a phone booth. The soundproofing is surprisingly good considering you’re in such a busy area; I could barely hear the street noise even on lower floors. Honestly, after staying in some places where you can hear every conversation in the hallway, that was a huge relief. The whole building feels well-maintained without being sterile, if that makes sense – like they’re actually taking care of the property rather than just waiting for the next renovation cycle. With an 8.8 rating, they’re clearly doing something right, and I get it. It’s not trying to be the flashiest hotel in the neighborhood, but sometimes that’s exactly what you want – a place that just works really well without any drama.
Early hotels booking in Seoul requires advance planning during peak tourist seasons when visitors flock to enjoy the city’s legendary palaces, shopping districts, and Korean cultural attractions.

Reviews of voco Seoul Myeongdong, an IHG Hotel
Rabab from Oman (9/10)
Location is excellent. Away from Myeongdong st. 10 mins by walking near Duty free mall. Also, unlimited water and minibar. Furthermore, GS25 is inside the hotel and a cafe and BK.
Wai from Canada (9/10)
Clean, amazing beach front unobstructed view, wood floor, entrance area lower than main area so all shoes stay in mud zone
Khensani from South Africa (9/10)
The hotel has only been open for a few weeks when we stayed there and everything was impeccable. The location is great as it’s opposite a market and a few minutes walk from the Myeong-dong shopping district.
Rabab from Oman (9/10)
Second stay at Voco. I think the location and the cafes and restaurants beside the hotel makes it unique. Will stay again for sure.
Mehmet from Turkey (8/10)
While the location of the hotel is excellent, being very close to Myeong-dong, Namdaemun Market, and Seoul Station, the fact that the garage was not free for guests was a significant shortcoming during my stay. Offering complimentary parking would make the overall experience even better.
