The thing that struck me immediately was how they’ve managed to capture that sleek Gangnam energy without feeling pretentious about it. You’re literally in the heart of one of the world’s most dynamic districts, but the hotel itself feels like this calm, sophisticated retreat from all the neon and noise outside. The lobby has this warm, contemporary vibe – sort of like if a boutique hotel and a business hotel had a really stylish baby. I mean, the design elements are clean and modern, but there’s enough personality that you don’t feel like you’re staying in some corporate cookie-cutter place.

What really impressed me was how well they understand their location. The staff actually knows the neighborhood – not just the obvious tourist spots, but where to grab late-night Korean BBQ when you’re craving something authentic, or which subway entrance to use during rush hour to avoid the crowds. That kind of local insight is gold when you’re trying to navigate Seoul for the first time. The rooms are genuinely comfortable too – not huge by international standards, but thoughtfully designed with proper lighting for working (thank god) and blackout curtains that actually work. The beds are solid, and honestly, after walking around Gangnam all day, that matters more than fancy marble bathrooms. Though speaking of bathrooms, theirs are pretty nice – good water pressure and toiletries that don’t smell like generic hotel soap.

The location is honestly perfect if you want to experience modern Seoul without being stuck in some tourist bubble. You’re walking distance from COEX and all that shopping madness, but also close enough to some fantastic local spots that most visitors never discover. I found myself coming back here between exploring different parts of the city because it felt like a genuine home base, not just a place to crash. The 8.9 rating makes total sense when you experience it – it’s not trying to be the fanciest place in Seoul, but everything they do, they do really well. Plus, the IHG connection means your points actually count for something, which is always a nice bonus when you’re traveling regularly.

  really new and clean hotel. there is a kitchenette on our level which was really convenient. lots of food and shops around the hotel. staff were lovely. complimentary drinks in the mini fridge.
