Toyoko Inn Seoul Dongdaemun I
Your Seoul Retreat
First Impressions
Walking into Toyoko Inn Seoul Dongdaemun I, you immediately get that reliable Japanese business hotel vibe — clean, efficient, and refreshingly straightforward. It’s a three-star property that doesn’t try to be something it’s not, which honestly feels pretty refreshing in a city where hotels sometimes oversell themselves. The lobby is compact but well-organized, and the staff greets you with that polite efficiency you’d expect from the Toyoko Inn chain. The hotel combines practical design with genuine hospitality, creating a welcoming atmosphere for both business and leisure travelers.
Location & Neighborhood
The location in Seoul is genuinely fantastic — you’re right in the heart of Jung-gu, practically walking distance from Dongdaemun’s shopping chaos and the historic areas around Myeongdong. What really struck me is how easy it is to get around from here; the subway connections are solid, and you can actually walk to a bunch of major attractions without feeling like you’re hiking across the city. The couples who stay here seem to really appreciate this — apparently they rate the location super highly, which makes total sense when you’re trying to maximize your sightseeing time. This central positioning makes it an ideal base for exploring Seoul’s most vibrant districts.
The Room Experience
The room itself is exactly what you’d expect from a Japanese chain hotel — compact but thoughtfully designed, with everything you need and nothing you don’t. The bed is comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space despite the smaller footprint. You know what I appreciated most? The attention to detail in the layout — even though it’s not huge, nothing feels cramped or poorly planned. The bathroom is clean and functional, with modern fixtures and quality toiletries. Each room reflects the hotel’s commitment to maximizing comfort within an efficient space.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast here covers both Asian and American options, which is pretty practical when you’re dealing with different travel preferences. The Asian selections lean toward Japanese staples — rice, miso soup, some pickled vegetables — while the American side has the usual suspects like toast and coffee. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s a solid start to the day, especially when you’re planning to spend most of your time exploring the city anyway. The restaurant staff ensures a smooth dining experience for all guests.
Why Guests Love It
What really works about this place is the combination of location and reliability — you’re getting excellent access to Seoul‘s main attractions without paying premium hotel prices. The fact that recent guests consistently rate the location so highly tells you something important about how well-positioned this hotel really is. It’s the kind of place where you can drop your bags, grab a quick breakfast, and head out to explore without worrying about complicated commutes or inflated costs eating into your travel budget. The spa facilities and modern amenities add extra value to your stay.
To book hotel in Seoul during the vibrant cherry blossom season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts K-culture enthusiasts and modern travelers from around the world.

Guest Reviews
Great hotel! Room wasn’t big, but it was warm and had everything I could have needed
Location. Near mrt station line 4 with transfer to line 2 and line 5.
Simple, polite counter service and convenient location.
The staff was extremely nice and helpful. The room was very clean, even when I requested to skip cleaning a set of fresh towels was provided.
Cheap and near a metro station
Excellent breakfast and customer service.
Really friendly staff.
Clean, friendly stuff, good location
Good location and very new room
Firstly, I loved the fact that the Airport limousine bus 6001 stops right in front of this hotel - walk across the footpath and you are in. It's also located within a block of 3 different Seoul metro lines, so easy to get anywhere. It's clean and very comfortable. And you get a Korean breakfast, buffet style, and they do have bread you can toast. I would stay here again.
The bed was comfortable. The staff at the breakfast was very polite and welcome.
