THE PLAZA Seoul, Autograph Collection
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what struck me first about THE PLAZA Seoul, Autograph Collection? The lobby actually feels intimate despite being this massive five-star property – there’s something about the way they’ve arranged the seating areas that makes it feel more like an upscale living room than a typical hotel entrance. I mean, you’re still clearly in luxury territory, but it doesn’t have that cold, untouchable vibe some high-end places can give off.
The location is honestly pretty brilliant if you want to be in the thick of things without dealing with the absolute chaos of Myeongdong or Hongdae. You’re close enough to Seoul‘s main business districts that you can walk to a lot of places, but far enough from the tourist madness that you can actually get some sleep at night. The neighborhood has this nice mix of local coffee shops and international restaurants – I found myself grabbing breakfast at this tiny Korean place around the corner most mornings instead of the hotel restaurant (though their breakfast spread is actually quite good, just pricey like you’d expect).
What really sets this place apart is the attention to detail that you don’t notice until you’ve been there a few days. The housekeeping staff somehow manages to time their rounds perfectly so you’re never running into carts in the hallway, the elevators are fast enough that you’re not standing around forever, and – this might sound weird but hear me out – the key cards actually work consistently. You’d be surprised how many expensive hotels mess up the basics like that. The rooms themselves feel properly Korean rather than generic international luxury, with these beautiful traditional design elements that don’t feel forced or touristy. My room had this gorgeous view of the city that looked especially dramatic at night, though I should mention that if you’re a light sleeper, request a higher floor since Seoul never really quiets down completely.
The spa area is where I spent way too much time honestly – they’ve got this amazing jjimjilbang-style setup that locals actually use too, which tells you it’s legit. Staff throughout the hotel strikes that perfect balance of being helpful without hovering, and most speak excellent English if your Korean is as terrible as mine was. Pro tip: if you’re planning to explore the palaces or shopping districts, the concierge team knows their stuff about timing and can save you from showing up when half of Seoul has the same idea. With an 8.6 rating, it’s clearly doing something right, and after staying there I get why – it’s one of those places that manages to feel both luxurious and livable, which is harder to pull off than you’d think.

Guest Reviews
the proximity to the station and access to myeongdong via underpass! we could avoid the cold and sun and rain. the hotel staff also managed to give us headsup about events that were running in the nearby public areas, and possible noise/crowds. the concierge also very kindly passed on messages from our private tour guide when he couldn’t contact us prior to our day trip
My third stay here and I still love it. Great location, walking distance to main palaces, etc. Can be a bit noisy when events taking place at City Hall plaza, but stops early enough for sleep. The staff are great and can help with anything you may need.
Location was excellent - easy walking distance to the top attractions and shopping. The hotel is very pretty, and smelled so good. The rooms are comfortable and the aircond works well. The staff were very helpful and all spoke English fluently. I was also given a complimentary upgrade to a Premier suite. Thank you very much.
Location was fab, amazing room- clean, good size with great little extras (black out curtains n lights controlled by touch screen by huge bed)
Place also had amazing gym & spa behind hotel - lots of little details.
Staff were very professional & paid attention to detail.
Would definitely return
Location, cleanliness and staff were great
The location is literally at the heart of Seoul. I like the staff, they were polite and attentive. I liked the amenities provided each day, we had plenty of water each day! Also the hotel smelled nice. Lastly, it was very convenient to have the subway station very close by.
It was beautiful and the staff was polite and attentive
Very Well Located. Can walk to most of the local area markets from underground malls and connections. 5 min walk to subway. Curtains and lights operated by the phone beside the bed.
The location was excellent and the staff were very helpful
