Soosong Guesthouse
Your Seoul Retreat
I’ll be honest – when I first pulled up to Soosong Guesthouse, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. It’s one of those places that doesn’t scream “look at me” from the outside, but you know what? Sometimes those are exactly the spots that surprise you in the best way possible.
The whole vibe here is refreshingly unpretentious. The owner (I think his name was Mr. Kim, though my Korean is pretty rusty) actually took time to chat with me during check-in, and I mean really chat – not just the standard “how was your flight” routine. He knew the neighborhood inside and out, which honestly proved invaluable when I was trying to figure out where to grab decent coffee at 7 AM. The rooms are clean and comfortable without being fancy – think more “your friend’s really nice apartment” than “sterile hotel chain.” The beds are surprisingly good though, and trust me, after walking around all day, that matters more than marble countertops or whatever.
What I really appreciated was how quiet it gets at night, even though you’re not stuck out in the middle of nowhere. There’s something to be said for a place where you can actually sleep without earplugs, you know? The bathroom was spotless (always my first test of any accommodation), and while the shower isn’t going to win any design awards, the water pressure was solid and it stayed hot. I mean, that’s basically all you need, right? The common areas have this lived-in feel that makes you want to hang out with your coffee in the morning instead of rushing straight out the door. I ended up having some great conversations with other travelers there – turns out the relaxed atmosphere really does make people more friendly. The 7.9 rating seems about right to me; it’s not trying to be something it’s not, but what it does, it does well. If you’re looking for a place that feels more like staying with locals than being processed through a hospitality machine, Soosong hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Guest Reviews
Perfect location, super helpful staff and very comfortable room.
I really liked the area that it is located.
Location was excellent. Clean, comfy rooms. Most everything was casual do-it-yourself. We did see someone briefly at check-in, but not at check-out. We never did see anyone on our return stay a few days later. Luggage storage behind counter was convenient though not secured.
GREAT location! Right next door to Jogyesa Temple and bus stop. Easy walking to the 2 big palaces, Insa-dong street, and Hanok Village. Comfortable beds, new bottles of water each day, outlets near bed for phone charging, little toiletteries kit, nice air conditioning in first room a few days ago, but we couldn't read the Korean on this one so think we turned the heat on instead, or at least couldn't figure out how to change the temperature. Our problem, not the hotel's! Best part of all? Right around the corner from a "choffle" shop! The cinnamon ones are highly recommended!
The location was brilliant, there was no breakfast offering
The room was pretty spacious, the bathroom was very nice and had a bathtub. The beds were super comfortable and clean. I liked that there was a little closet to store my clothes on hangers. The free toiletries were a pleasant bonus.
