Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence Overview
You know what caught me off guard about Sollago Myeongdong Hotel & Residence? It’s got this unexpectedly sophisticated vibe that doesn’t scream “tourist hotel” the moment you walk in. I mean, sure, you’re right in the thick of Myeongdong with all its shopping chaos and street food vendors calling out in three languages, but step inside and there’s actually this sense of calm that’s pretty rare in this part of the city. The lobby feels more like a boutique residence than your typical four-star setup – they’ve got these warm wood accents and soft lighting that somehow makes you forget you’re surrounded by some of Seoul‘s busiest streets.
What I really appreciated was how they’ve managed to balance that residence feel with proper hotel amenities. The rooms are honestly more spacious than I expected, especially considering the prime location, and they’ve got this smart layout that maximizes every inch without feeling cramped. The kitchenette situation is actually functional too – not just some token mini-fridge and microwave situation. I watched families using them for real meal prep, which makes sense when you’re staying longer term or just want to avoid eating out every single meal in Myeongdong (your wallet will thank you). The soundproofing is surprisingly decent considering you’re literally surrounded by shopping madness – I could hear the energy from the streets but it wasn’t keeping me up at night, if that makes sense.
Here’s the thing about staying in this area though – you’re going to be walking everywhere, and I mean everywhere. The subway connections are solid (Myeong-dong Station is basically around the corner), but honestly, most of what you’ll want to see is within a few blocks anyway. Late night convenience runs are a breeze, and if you’re into the whole Korean skincare thing, you’re basically living in paradise with all the cosmetics shops. The hotel staff seemed genuinely used to dealing with international guests too – not just tourist-friendly, but actually helpful with specific questions about getting around or finding particular shops. I had one front desk person draw me an actual hand-drawn map to find this tiny traditional tea house tucked away in the alleys, which was way more useful than any generic tourist map. With that 8.5 rating, you can tell other travelers are picking up on the same things – it’s just solid, reliable, and well-positioned without any major drama or disappointments.

Everything was amazing! Staff was super understanding and good with English. They had outlet converters for a deposit that you get back too! If you ever need anything, they have it and just put a small deposit in ₩ and they will give you it back when you return it. The GS25 downstairs was such a convenient thing late at night or refreshing after exploring. Walking to the famous night market was only like 10 mins walk, so definitely check it out!! Everything was great and clean and would not stay anywhere else for the price it was for the few nights we were there. Also by two train stations, one is further of a walk like 10 mins or less. The other train station is right outside on the main road which is like 2-3 mins walk.

The perfect home away from home. I was staying for 5 nights and I loved that there was ample storage and facilities such as a fridge and freezer, microwave, kettle and even a stove top. Please note though, you do need to bring your own utensils. The rooms are clean and well maintained daily, I was never unhappy with the cleaning standards during my stay. I also liked that the nearest limousine bus stop Toegyero 3 (sam)that has frequent buses as both 6001 and 6015 stops there. The way to the hotel are paved roads so you can easily navigate there with your luggage.

Really loved it. My room was a great size with good layout and storage. Having a washing machine and a big fridge freezer was fantastic. The location was great, I was very happy to be so close to the centre of Myeongdong without being on the busiest streets. The staff were all very helpful and welcoming. The cleaning staff in particular were so nice and very thorough with their work. There are 2 convenience stores downstairs, which was super handy.
