Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeongdong Overview
Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first heard about Solaria Nishitetsu Hotel Seoul Myeongdong, I was a bit skeptical. I mean, it’s a 3-star place in one of the busiest shopping districts in Seoul, and you know how those areas can be… well, let’s just say they’re not always known for peaceful nights. But honestly? This place surprised me in the best way possible.
The thing that struck me right away was how the Japanese hospitality influence really shows – you can tell this is run by the Nishitetsu group because there’s this attention to detail that’s just different. The lobby isn’t huge or flashy, but everything feels intentional, you know? The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which is pretty rare in Myeongdong where most hotels treat you like just another tourist with a camera. I stayed here during cherry blossom season (probably the worst time to judge any Seoul hotel, honestly), and even with the place packed, the service never felt rushed or impersonal.
Here’s what I really loved – the location is absolutely perfect if you want to be in the thick of things without paying those insane Myeongdong main strip prices. You’re literally a two-minute walk from Myeongdong Station, but you’re tucked away enough that you’re not dealing with the street food vendors calling out until midnight. Actually, speaking of food, there’s this incredible kalguksu place around the corner that most tourists never find because it’s hidden behind a cosmetics shop – the hotel staff pointed it out to me, which tells you something about how they actually care about your experience. The rooms are compact (this is Seoul, after all), but they’re smart about space in that very Japanese way. Everything has its place, the bed is surprisingly comfortable, and – this might sound weird – but the shower pressure is fantastic, which you can’t take for granted in this part of the city.
What really won me over was the breakfast situation. It’s not some massive buffet with soggy bacon, but rather this nice mix of Korean and Japanese options that actually tastes like food people would eat, not hotel food. I mean, I’ve stayed in places twice the price where the breakfast was basically inedible. The whole vibe here is just… comfortable, I guess? Like, it’s not trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, well-run hotel in an amazing location with staff who genuinely seem to enjoy helping people figure out Seoul. That 8.8 rating? Yeah, I get it completely. Sometimes the best places are the ones that just do everything right without making a big show of it.

Location of the hotel was a surprised as it’s opened right in the Myeongdong market, it’s very convenient for shopping or access to subways. The room was spacious for 2. It’s lovely decorated and had separated toilet room from bathroom. The lights and wall sockets were everywhere around the room. Chairs was soft and nice. Extremely clean and lovely view from windows of 10th floor and above.
