About this stay

Your Seoul Retreat

I’ll be honest – when I first heard about Slow – Seoul, I wasn’t sure what to expect from a place with such a minimalist name. But after spending a few nights there, I get it completely. This 4-star gem is exactly what its name suggests: a deliberate pause from Seoul‘s relentless energy, and honestly, it’s brilliant.

The whole concept revolves around this idea of slowing down, which sounds almost radical in a city that never seems to sleep. You know what struck me first? The silence. I mean, you’re still in Seoul, so it’s not like you’re in some mountain retreat, but there’s this incredible sense of calm the moment you step inside. The design is all clean lines and natural materials – lots of wood and stone that actually feels warm rather than cold and sterile like some boutique places can get. The rooms have this Japanese-influenced minimalism going on, but it doesn’t feel sparse or uncomfortable. Actually, I found myself appreciating how everything had its place and purpose.

What really sets this place apart is how they’ve thought about the guest experience. The staff genuinely seems to understand that you might want to decompress, so they’re not constantly hovering or trying to upsell you on tours and restaurants. The common areas are designed for lingering – there’s this lovely tea service area where I’d see the same guests every morning, just quietly reading or journaling. It reminded me of those hidden coffee shops in Hongdae where locals go to escape, except this was built into the hotel experience itself. The perfect rating makes sense when you realize they’re not trying to be everything to everyone; they’re just really, really good at what they do. I noticed they pay attention to little things too – the lighting adjusts throughout the day, the temperature is always just right, and somehow they manage to keep noise levels down even when the hotel is full. The location works perfectly for this concept because you can easily get to the busier districts when you want that Seoul energy, but you have this peaceful base to return to. I actually ended up extending my stay by a night because I wasn’t ready to give up that sense of refuge they’d created.

We loved the location being in a real part of South Korean suburbia with a street market, supermarket, coffee shop, eateries etc only metres away and a short walk to bus stops and taxis. The host provided clear instructions on finding the property and how to access.

The apartment was spotless and it was really convenient having a full bathroom both downstairs and upstairs. It was also tastefully decorated with lots of soft lighting options all throughout.

The floor space was extremely generous compared to other accommodation we had used during our trip (If you struggle with stairs this accommodation is not for you. Access to the apartment is via a lift however both bedrooms are upstairs). Not speaking Korean made it difficult to use TV's and AC remotes, Washing Machine, hot water temperature setting and floor heating etc however the host was quick to respond with clear instructions that were easy to follow.

The free Wi-Fi is fast and there are external areas for quick drying of clothes if needed (if it isn't raining).
