Seoul Riviera Hotel Overview
You know what caught me off guard about the Seoul Riviera Hotel? The name makes it sound way fancier than it actually is – I mean, it’s a solid 4-star place, but don’t expect French Riviera vibes in Seoul. That said, after spending a few nights there, I honestly think it’s one of those places that grows on you once you get past the slightly dated lobby.
The rooms are actually pretty decent for the price point, though I’d definitely ask for something higher up if you’re sensitive to street noise. I was on the third floor my first night and could hear the morning traffic starting up around 6 AM – not ideal when you’re dealing with jet lag. The beds are comfortable enough, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed at. There’s this weird thing where the bathroom mirror fogs up constantly (probably needs better ventilation), but the housekeeping staff really knows what they’re doing. My room was spotless every day, and they actually folded my scattered clothes, which was embarrassing but appreciated.
What I really liked – and this is something you won’t find in the official descriptions – is how the front desk staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the city. The night manager, this older guy who’s apparently been there for years, drew me a hand-sketched map to find this specific noodle place I’d heard about, complete with landmarks and Korean phrases to help me order. You don’t get that kind of personal touch at the big chain hotels. The location itself is pretty practical too; you’re not right in the thick of Myeongdong or Gangnam, but the subway connections are solid, and there’s this 24-hour convenience store literally next door that became my best friend during late-night snack runs. The breakfast buffet is… well, it’s fine. Nothing to write home about, but they do have decent coffee and the Korean options are more authentic than the weird Western stuff they try to pull off. I’d probably skip it and explore the street food scene instead – there’s so much better stuff within a five-minute walk. The hotel’s rating of 7.6 feels about right to me; it’s not going to blow your mind, but it won’t disappoint either. It’s the kind of place where everything works, the staff remembers your name after day two, and you feel comfortable enough to leave your laptop charger plugged in without worry.

Pretty big rooms, close to the subway, nice neighborhood. Not too expensive for a 4 star hotel.
Miranda from United Kingdom (8/10)
Location was handy for where I needed to be – the COEX. Place was a little old fashioned but in a charming way, and it was clean and tidy. The breakfast was good and there were plenty of options. WiFi and AC were good. Bed is comfortable, and despite being so close to a busy road, there was no noise disturbance. Lifts were good. The karaoke room was GREAT loved having this as an option and not having to go out, though the drinks cost more than outside, but that is normal with hotels.

The hotel is a bit older, but I was pleased with the swimming pool included in the price, the possibility of a fitness center, golf trainer, massage and sauna directly in the hotel.
