Residence Unicorn
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Residence Unicorn? The name made me expect something kitschy or over-the-top, but honestly, this 3-star place has this understated charm that just works. I mean, a 9.2 rating doesn’t happen by accident – there’s clearly something they’re doing right that bigger hotels miss.
The whole vibe here feels more like staying at a well-designed apartment than your typical hotel room. The spaces actually breathe, if that makes sense – none of that cramped feeling where you’re bumping into furniture every time you turn around. What really impressed me was how quiet it stays, even when other guests are around. The walls must be properly insulated because I never felt like I was living someone else’s vacation drama. The staff has this laid-back professionalism going on – they know their stuff but don’t hover or make everything feel overly formal. Check-in was smooth, no weird surprises about fees or policies that weren’t mentioned upfront.
Here’s the thing about 3-star places that I’ve learned over the years – they can either try too hard to punch above their weight and fall flat, or they nail their lane perfectly. Residence Unicorn definitely falls into that second category. They’ve figured out what travelers actually need (decent Wi-Fi, comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, maybe a kitchenette setup) without getting distracted by flashy extras nobody uses. The cleaning standards are solid – I’m always checking corners and behind curtains because you never know, but everything felt properly maintained. Parking was straightforward too, which saved me from that annoying dance of circling blocks looking for a spot. I appreciated that they seem to understand business travelers and leisure folks have different rhythms – early mornings stayed quiet, but there wasn’t some oppressive silence policy that made you feel weird about normal conversation. The location works well for getting around without feeling like you’re stuck in a tourist bubble. Sometimes these smaller properties surprise you with local connections too – the front desk actually had useful recommendations that weren’t just the obvious tourist traps everyone mentions.

Guest Reviews
Everything was great, from the first contact with Ponny til the end.
The place is cosy, nicely furnished, beautifully designed. Ponny was always available, kind and helpful. I would definitely go back if I have a chance.
Ponny is the best. She’s very helpful and responsive.

The room is pretty nice and the bed is very comfortable! We appreciate the big room.
Communication is awesome, very clean. the room has everything you need!
The appartment is located near shops, cafes and restaurants, near bus and metro station and within walkable distance to centre. It was well equipped, and contact with Ponny (host) was perfect! We have received all needed instruction on time and also tips how to travel to and from the airport. It was possible to check in earlier which was very very appreciated after long flight. Very good place to stay in Seoul.
- Location is good. Easy transfer to any direction.
- Change of bedsheets during the stay was really refreshing.
- Easy access and easy to find & I received excellent instructions.
- Flat was spacious.
The place was very cozy and comfortable, very good location, friendly and helpful owner!
The location and appartment was excellent!
a family-run hotel with great service. Every request or concern I had was dealt with within shortest time possible. Ponny and her family made me feel welcome, comfortable and ensured that I had everything I needed and even more than I expected/or asked for. My room was clean and even the dust from the lamps on the ceiling was removed, since I am allergic to dust.
As I stayed more than 5 days I got a WIFI router with internet connection for free. I was using it during my 15 day stay and it worked perfectly fine. I actually regret buying the SIM card in the airport, because i actually didn't really use it at all.
The location is not filled with tourists, which i really liked. If I wanted to go see all there is to see in Seoul, there were Subway stations nearby and a bus stop which was about 2 minutes walk from the hotel. ATMs and a big Supermarket were within 2-3 minutes walk. Even a pharmacy was close by.
If you want to experience Korean hospitality at its finest and especially if you are traveling solo, like me, I definitely recommend this hotel.
I want to thank Ponny and Ponny's father for everything they did for me and made my first time stay in Seoul unforgettable.
