Raon House Overview
You know what really caught me off guard about Raon House? It’s one of those places that completely defies your expectations from the moment you walk through the front door. I mean, with a 4-star rating, I was expecting something nice but pretty standard – honestly, I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels that tick all the boxes on paper but leave you feeling sort of… meh. This place is different, though, and that 8.9 rating actually makes perfect sense once you’ve been there.
The first thing that hits you is how the staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right. Not in that over-the-top, scripted way that makes you uncomfortable, but more like they actually want you to have a good time. During check-in, the front desk person took maybe thirty seconds to explain the best times to use the elevator (apparently it gets pretty busy around 8 AM when business travelers are rushing out) and mentioned which side of the building tends to be quieter at night. Small stuff, but it’s exactly the kind of intel you’d want from a friend who knows the place. The rooms themselves strike this really nice balance between modern comfort and not trying too hard to be trendy. You’ve got everything you actually need without a bunch of unnecessary gadgets that break half the time anyway. The beds are legitimately comfortable – and I’m pretty picky about that – with linens that feel substantial, not those tissue-thin sheets some places use. What I really appreciated was the attention to lighting; there are actually enough outlets near the bed, and you can adjust the room lighting without having to get up and fumble around with switches.
Here’s the thing about Raon House that really sets it apart: it feels like the kind of place where someone thought through what travelers actually want versus what looks good in photos. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you can actually sit and work or just hang out without feeling like you’re in a museum. I spent a fair bit of time in their lobby area (which has surprisingly good coffee, by the way), and you could tell other guests felt comfortable there too – people were having actual conversations, not just rushing through. The housekeeping is thorough without being intrusive, and they seem to have figured out that perfect timing where they’re not banging around in the hallway at 7 AM but your room is still ready when you need it. If I’m being completely honest, the only minor thing I’d change is that the WiFi occasionally gets a bit sluggish in the evenings when everyone’s streaming, but that’s pretty typical anywhere these days. Overall, it’s the kind of place I’d actually book again, which – let’s be real – doesn’t happen as often as it should with hotels.

Great location for exploring Seoul and a comfortable, clean flat with big windows and natural light. You can see N Seoul Tower from the window. It's very close to Seoul Station and yet very quiet. We loved the vegetarian/vegan noodle place (called Daom) just a few minutes away. And the big Lotte Mart at the station.
Joycelyn from Singapore (9/10)
Convenient location, within walking distance to Seoul Station. The apartment has an elevator so you do not have to worry about carrying bulky heavy luggage up. Place was nice and cosy, exactly as what the listing described it to be.
Host was extremely helpful. We were travelling with a child who is still using diapers and given Korea's strict recycling and segregation of trash rules, host provided additional plastic bags to bin the dirty diapers. The unit is also extremely child friendly, with a baby cot and baby seat provided. Highly recommended for families travelling with young children!
