Private Hanok Space MODA Overview

You know what really surprised me about Private Hanok Space MODA? I went in expecting one of those touristy hanok experiences where everything’s been modernized beyond recognition, but this place actually feels authentic. The wooden floors creak just right when you walk across them, and there’s this subtle smell of cedar and traditional ondol heating that immediately tells you you’re somewhere special.

I mean, don’t get me wrong – it’s not like staying in a museum. The owners have done this brilliant job of keeping all the traditional Korean architecture intact while sneaking in modern comforts where you actually need them. The bathroom is completely updated (thank goodness), but they’ve managed to do it without destroying the hanok’s character. The courtyard area is probably my favorite spot – honestly, I spent way more time there than I planned, just sitting with morning coffee and watching how the light changes throughout the day. There’s something about the way traditional Korean houses are designed around these open spaces that just makes you slow down, you know?

What really sets this place apart is the privacy factor. A lot of hanok stays feel like you’re sharing space with a dozen other tourists, but MODA actually lives up to that “private” part of its name. You get the whole space to yourself, which is rare for Seoul accommodation at this price point. The hosts are incredibly helpful without being intrusive – they left detailed notes about everything from how to work the ondol heating system to where to find the best late-night snacks nearby (and trust me, their recommendations are spot-on). The 9.5 rating makes total sense once you’re there; it’s those little thoughtful touches that add up. Plus, the location puts you right in the heart of things without the constant street noise that can drive you crazy in other parts of the city. I actually slept better here than I have in most hotels, which is saying something because I’m usually pretty sensitive to sounds. If you’re looking for that authentic Korean experience but don’t want to sacrifice comfort, this is honestly one of the best options I’ve found.

To book hotel in Seoul during the vibrant cherry blossom season, visitors should make reservations well in advance as the city attracts K-culture enthusiasts and modern travelers from around the world.

Everything. Beautifully renovated Hanok in great location. Seongbuk is an interesting and exciting neighbourhood with many independent shops, cafes, bakeries and restaurants. Close to the city walls for hikes into the mountains. Host was very friendly and welcoming and provided excellent recommendations for the local area.
