The location is pretty fantastic if you’re planning to do serious shopping or just soak up the energy of Seoul‘s busiest district. You’re literally surrounded by everything that makes Myeongdong tick – those narrow alleys packed with street food vendors (the hotteok stands are ridiculous, by the way), cosmetics shops that’ll make your head spin, and honestly some of the best people-watching in the city. What I really appreciated was how the hotel manages to feel like a quiet retreat despite being right in the thick of things. The rooms have decent soundproofing, which is crucial because Myeongdong doesn’t really sleep. I stayed on the seventh floor and could barely hear the street buzz, even with the windows slightly open for some fresh air.

The residence-style setup is actually pretty clever – you get more space than your typical hotel room, and there’s something nice about having a little kitchenette area even if you’re not planning to cook much. The staff genuinely seems to know the neighborhood well, which sounds obvious but trust me, it’s not always the case. They pointed me toward this amazing jjigae place tucked away on a side street that I never would’ve found otherwise. Check-in was smooth, no weird surprises with fees or policies, and the elevator situation isn’t a nightmare like some places in the district where you’re waiting forever during busy periods. If you’re coming during peak shopping season – basically any weekend or holiday period – you’ll appreciate having a base where you can drop off your shopping bags and regroup before diving back into the madness outside.
