Nine Tree by Parnas Seoul Myeongdong 1 Overview
Look, I’ll be honest – when I first walked into Nine Tree by Parnas Seoul Myeongdong 1, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place in one of the busiest tourist areas in Seoul. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that feels more boutique than budget, and the staff genuinely seemed happy to see guests – not something you always get in the heart of Myeongdong where tourism can make service feel a bit mechanical.
What really got me was how they’ve managed to create this little oasis of calm despite being smack in the middle of shopping madness. I mean, you’re literally steps away from all those cosmetic shops and street food vendors (the hotteok stand around the corner is insane, by the way), but somehow the hotel manages to keep things peaceful. The rooms aren’t huge – this is Seoul, after all – but they’re thoughtfully designed with proper blackout curtains that actually work, which is crucial when you’re dealing with jet lag and those bright neon signs everywhere. The beds are surprisingly comfortable too, with that perfect firmness that Korean hotels seem to nail consistently. I actually slept better here than at some supposedly fancier places I’ve stayed.
Here’s the thing that really sealed it for me though – the location is absolutely perfect for first-time visitors, but also smart enough for return travelers who know what they want. You can walk to Myeongdong Cathedral in about three minutes, hit up Namdaemun Market without breaking a sweat, and honestly, getting to Dongdaemun or Hongdae is so easy from here. The subway connections are right there, and late-night taxi rides back from Gangnam don’t cost a fortune. Plus – and this might sound weird – but the elevators are fast and quiet, which matters more than you’d think when you’re hauling shopping bags up to the seventh floor after a long day. The 8.4 rating makes total sense to me because while it’s not trying to be the Shilla or anything fancy like that, it absolutely nails what it’s supposed to do. The breakfast is decent Korean and Western options (their kimchi is actually properly fermented, not that tourist stuff), and the front desk always has solid restaurant recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist traps. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals would actually recommend to their visiting friends.
Seoul’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of traditional Korean hospitality and ultra-modern amenities, with many featuring spa services and authentic Korean cultural experiences.

Rooms were decent and clean. Very convenient location in the middle of a shopping street. Hotel was able to accommodate a parcel that sent over prior to my stay. Laundry room only had one washer and dryer, plan your time to make use of it. Free coffee, water, ice, lockers were available.

Fantastic location next to Myeongdong shopping street. Tour les Jous bakery is just next door. Get out via exit 7 (escalator) or 8 from subway and walk 1min. Airport limo bus just round the corner. There's free luggage storage lockers for 12h, free coffee, tea, water in the lounge on 11th floor, plus 2 coin laundry and dryer. A modern and clean hotel which I enjoyed staying in.

It is a hotel with modern amenities and has everything you need except disposable toiletries. The room is very clean, pillows were comfortable and quilt was thick. There were sufficient power sockets. The Hollywood double room has a huge bed, and sufficient space for luggage. Room is pricey but for its location and quality, I think it's still worth it. On the 11th floor is the lounge for water and coffee, free luggage storage lockers for 12h and a microwave. Coin laundry and dryer also available. Highly recommended.
