Insadong Crown Hotel
Your Seoul Retreat
Look, I’ll be honest with you – the Insadong Crown Hotel isn’t going to blow you away with luxury, but there’s something genuinely charming about this place that keeps drawing me back when I’m in Seoul. It’s one of those three-star spots that actually tries, you know? The lobby has this sort of old-school Korean elegance mixed with practical tourist hotel vibes, and while the 6.7 rating might seem modest, I think it undersells what you’re actually getting here.
What really works about this place is the location – I mean, you’re right in the heart of Insadong, which honestly feels like stepping into a different Seoul altogether. You can literally walk out the front door and be surrounded by traditional tea houses, art galleries tucked into narrow alleys, and street food vendors who’ve been perfecting their recipes for decades. The morning sounds are incredible too – instead of traffic, you’ll wake up to the gentle clatter of ceramic and the soft conversations of people heading to the nearby Jogyesa Temple. The rooms aren’t huge (this is Seoul, after all), but they’re clean and thoughtfully arranged, with heated floors that feel amazing during winter months. Actually, the ondol heating system they use is pretty traditional, which adds this authentic touch you won’t find in the international chain hotels.
Here’s what I really appreciate – the staff genuinely seems to care about helping you navigate the area. They keep these hand-drawn maps at the front desk showing all the little galleries and workshops that tourists usually miss, plus they know which tea houses serve the best patjuk and won’t try to overcharge foreigners. Parking can be tricky since the streets around here are narrow and winding, but there’s a small lot behind the building that usually has space if you’re driving. The evening vibe is particularly special because Insadong transforms after dark – the paper lanterns come out, and there’s this warm glow spilling from shop windows that makes everything feel almost magical. Sure, you might hear some street noise since you’re in an active neighborhood, but it’s the good kind of noise – people chatting, traditional music drifting from restaurants, the occasional temple bell. The hotel restaurant serves a decent Korean breakfast too, nothing fancy but solid bibimbap and kimchi jjigae that’ll fuel you for a day of exploring. If you’re looking for a place that puts you right in the cultural heart of the city without breaking the bank, this spot delivers on that promise in a way that feels authentic rather than manufactured.

Guest Reviews
Great location, right in the middle of the old city, both palaces and bukchon were in good walking distance. Lots of great places and great night food market closeby.
Location and nearness to sites
It was clean and located in a really good area
kind staff
Comfortable, near the important place such as markets, and
tourist attraction
Location is about a 10 minute walk from the nearest train station. Plenty of shopping and restaurants around.
Location was great.
Rooms were clean and the staff was nice during check in and check out.
Stunning apartment
The staff was friendly and had no trouble with the stay but the facility is very old and several things didn’t work or were missing entirely from our room. That is no AC control so we had to leave the window open all night in a part of town that pretty noisy.
