New Seoul Hotel Myeongdong Overview

Look, I’ll be honest with you – when I first walked up to the New Seoul Hotel Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from a 3-star place. But you know what? Sometimes those assumptions bite you in the ass, because this little spot actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby’s got this clean, minimalist thing going on that feels very Korean without being kitschy about it, and the staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions like you get at some places).

What really sold me on this place was the location – I mean, you’re literally in the heart of Seoul‘s shopping madness. Step outside and you’re immediately swallowed up by the Myeongdong street food scene and those endless cosmetics shops that Korea’s famous for. I actually found myself coming back to the hotel multiple times during the day just to drop off shopping bags, which would’ve been a total pain if I’d stayed somewhere further out. The rooms are smaller than what you’d get in a Western hotel – well, this is Seoul, so that’s pretty much expected – but they’re thoughtfully designed. Everything has its place, the bed’s surprisingly comfortable, and honestly, the shower pressure was better than some 5-star places I’ve stayed at.

Here’s the thing about staying in Myeongdong though – it gets loud. Like, really loud until pretty late at night because of all the street vendors and crowds. But by Korean standards, the New Seoul’s rooms are actually pretty well soundproofed. I’m a light sleeper and I managed fine with the windows closed and the AC running. The breakfast situation is nothing to write home about (typical Asian hotel continental spread), but seriously, why would you eat hotel breakfast when you’ve got some of the best street food in Asia right outside your door? I spent most mornings wandering around with hotteok and coffee from the vendors. One small complaint – the elevators are painfully slow, especially during busy checkout times, but that’s pretty typical for older buildings in this area. The hotel’s got that solid, dependable feel of a place that’s been doing this for a while and knows what travelers actually need versus what looks good in photos.

Seoul’s hotels showcase the perfect blend of traditional Korean hospitality and ultra-modern amenities, with many featuring spa services and authentic Korean cultural experiences.

Loved everything about New Seoul Hotel. Location was center of all transportation modes and near several attractions. Facilites were top notch. Best of all was the staff, very friendly and courteous. I was allowed to leave my luggage here in the morning as check in is only after 3pm and the items were securely kept at the lobby area.

I think it is newly renovated. There are 2 elevators. The room in this hotel is a lot bigger. It's very clean and beds are comfortable. The air-condition in a hot summer is heavenly cold, it feels good. One of the best highlight of traveling to korea is staying in this hotel. I miss the ambiance already
