I’ll be honest – when I first walked into the New Blanc Central Myeongdong, I wasn’t expecting much from what looked like just another mid-range hotel squeezed between the countless shops and restaurants. But you know what? This place actually surprised me in all the right ways. The lobby has this clean, minimalist vibe that feels refreshing after navigating the controlled chaos of Myeongdong‘s street food stalls and cosmetics shops outside. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful (not just going through the motions), and I mean, with a 9.7 rating, they’re clearly doing something right.

What really won me over was how thoughtfully designed everything is – the rooms aren’t huge by Western standards, but they’re cleverly laid out so you don’t feel cramped. The beds are actually comfortable, which honestly isn’t always a given in Seoul hotels, and the bathrooms have these rainfall showers that feel pretty luxurious after a long day of walking around. I stayed on the seventh floor and was worried about street noise since Myeongdong can get pretty lively, especially on weekends, but the windows do a solid job of keeping most of the sound out. You’ll still hear the occasional delivery scooter in the early morning, but it’s not terrible. The air conditioning works well too – important during those muggy Seoul summers when you’re constantly ducking in and out of shops.

Location-wise, you really can’t beat it if you’re planning to do serious shopping or want easy access to both traditional and modern Seoul. Myeongdong Cathedral is literally a three-minute walk, and you’re right in the heart of all those skincare shops that everyone raves about (my wallet wasn’t thrilled, but my skin was). The subway connections are super convenient – Myeongdong Station is close enough that even with luggage it’s not a hassle, and from there you can get pretty much anywhere in the city without too many transfers. I actually ended up extending my stay an extra night because I realized how much time I was saving not having to trek across the city to get to the main attractions. The hotel doesn’t have a fancy restaurant or anything like that, but honestly, why would you eat hotel food when you’re surrounded by some of the best street food and traditional Korean restaurants in the city? There’s this little 24-hour convenience store right around the corner that saved me more than once when I needed late-night snacks or forgot to pack something essential.

Travelers should reserve a hotel in Seoul at least two months ahead for major events like K-pop concerts and cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular attractions.
