Moxy Seoul Myeongdong Overview
Look, I’ve stayed at my fair share of hotels in Seoul, and Moxy Seoul Myeongdong honestly caught me off guard in the best way possible. When I first walked into the lobby, I mean – it’s got this industrial-chic vibe that feels more like a trendy coworking space than your typical hotel. The whole place buzzes with this youthful energy, which makes sense since it’s smack in the middle of one of the busiest shopping districts in the city. You know what I loved? The check-in process felt like grabbing a drink at a hip bar – they literally serve you a welcome cocktail while you get your room sorted. No stuffy front desk situation here.
The rooms are compact but incredibly smart about space – think IKEA met modern Seoul design and had a really stylish baby. Everything’s been thought through, from the quirky mood lighting you can control with your phone to the bathroom that somehow feels way bigger than it actually is. I actually spent way too much time playing with the different light settings, but hey, it was fun. The beds are surprisingly comfortable for a 3-star place, and the walls do a decent job of blocking out the Myeongdong madness, though you’ll still hear some street noise if you’re a super light sleeper. What really got me was the attention to detail – like, they’ve got these adorable little local snacks in the minibar that you won’t find at the big chain hotels.
Being right in the heart of Seoul’s shopping paradise means you’re literally steps away from everything. I’m talking about stumbling out of the hotel and immediately being surrounded by street food vendors, cosmetics shops, and those late-night Korean BBQ spots that locals actually frequent. The Myeongdong Cathedral is maybe a three-minute walk, and you can easily hop on the subway to explore other neighborhoods – the station’s practically next door. Honestly, the location alone makes this place worth it, but the staff really sealed the deal for me. They’re young, speak excellent English, and actually seem to enjoy their jobs, which isn’t always a given. I had this one front desk guy who drew me a little map of his favorite hole-in-the-wall restaurants in the area, complete with Korean phrases to help me order. That kind of personal touch – along with that solid 8.9 rating it’s earned – tells you everything you need to know about why this place works so well for travelers who want to actually experience Seoul rather than just sleep in it.
Travelers should reserve a hotel in Seoul at least two months ahead for major events like K-pop concerts and cultural festivals, ensuring the best rates and prime locations near popular attractions.

The location is excellent, close to shopping, restaurants, train stations and night markets.
Our room has four bunk beds. They are comfortable, long enough for my height (6ft), and there is plenty of space for the room, although I heard from other travellers that their room is quite small.
It provides free coffee and teas for hotel guests 24/7 in the lobby.
The laundry facilities are good as it is free.
The staff are friendly and helpful.Pedro from United Kingdom (9/10)
This is my kind of hotel….cool, contemporary, comfortable, super clean and every customer touching has been considered before you even think about it. The service levels, especially from Lucy, is world class and even as a first time visitor to South Korea, my wife and I were made to feel very welcome. Well done in delivering the brand promise that I expected from Moxy and even more!
