Mayplace Hotel
Your Seoul Retreat
You know what caught me off guard about Mayplace Hotel? It’s one of those places that doesn’t try too hard to impress you upfront, but somehow ends up being exactly what you needed. I mean, walking into the lobby, you’re not going to be blown away by marble columns or crystal chandeliers – it’s got this understated elegance that actually feels more welcoming than intimidating. The staff at check-in were genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions like you get at some places.
What really won me over was how they’ve managed to nail that sweet spot between professional service and not making you feel like you’re staying in some corporate box. The rooms are well thought out – and I’m talking about the little things that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The lighting actually works for reading (shocking, I know), there’s enough surface space for your stuff without it looking cluttered, and honestly, the beds are fantastic. You can tell they’ve invested in quality mattresses because I slept better there than I do at home half the time. The bathrooms are spacious enough that you’re not constantly bumping into things, and the water pressure is solid – trust me, after a long day of walking around, that matters more than fancy toiletries.
Here’s the thing about this place though – it’s got character without being quirky for the sake of it. The common areas have this relaxed vibe where you can actually imagine hanging out with a coffee or drink, and I noticed guests actually did that instead of just rushing through to their rooms. The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense to me because while it might not be the flashiest option around, it delivers on all the fundamentals plus some nice touches you don’t expect. I particularly appreciated how quiet it stayed even when it seemed pretty full – you know how some hotels have paper-thin walls where you hear every conversation in the hallway? Not an issue here. The housekeeping was thorough without being intrusive, and they were flexible about timing when I needed to work from the room one morning. It’s the kind of place where everything just works smoothly, which sounds boring but is actually pretty rare and valuable when you’re traveling.

Guest Reviews
The hotel is at a perfect place. You can use the buses to go almost everywhere from there. The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially Jin!! (thank you for all your advice)
Breakfast was good too. Very clean!
Everything was on spot at this hotel. It is conveniently located next to Changgyeonggung and at 15min walking from DDP. The room, bathroom and the lobby were spotless, the bed so comfortable and the staff very helpful. To my favorite clerk at the Front Desk, yes you with the Ronaldinho phone cover, THANK YOU for all the good infos about the city and the restaurants you gave us. We appreciate it a lot!! We will definitely recommend this place to our friends :)
Staff were very friendly and spoke great English. The rooms were kept very clean and were looked after attentively. Decent enough room in the hotel plus a small gym and rooftop garden. Overall was very pleasant and good value for our stay.
location is good, near attractions and very quiet. The hotel is neat and tidy, the staff is kind and helpful. We were allowed to check in late and they stored our luggage for the day the last day. There’s a laundry room and rooftop with a nice view of the city. How room was also pretty big.
Nice location close to Myeongdong, food and shopping areas. Room was clean and of reasonable size. Breakfast was good.
Friendly and helpful staff.
